I Scope
Only shop applied, internal lining is covered. Coating external pipe surfaces or
field applications of lining are not in scope.
Any conflicts between this document and other applicable Mandatory Saudi
Aramco Engineering Requirements (MSAERs) shall be addressed to the
EK&RD Coordinator.
Any deviation from the requirements herein shall follow internal company
procedure SAEP-302.

IV.1 Acronyms
IV.2 Definitions
Contractor: The party that provides work and materials for placement or
installation.
Cutback: Space left without lining to allow joining of pipes or fittings (welding
etc.) which is intended to be flushed after the joining is completed.
Quality Program: Program put together to ensure that the products produced
are meeting this standard. These can include quality policies, quality planning,
quality assurance, quality control and quality improvement.
Sleeved Pipe: A protective ring used to keep a pipe opening open, a ring used
to fill the gap between a pipe and another surface, or a covering to create a
barrier between a pipe and its surroundings.
(Addition) The Vendor shall implement and maintain a Quality Program which
shall include clearly defined and documented procedures for the relevant
Quality Systems functions. The Quality Program documents shall be made
available to the Purchaser's representative for review and audit.
4.4.2 Thickness
(Exception) Delete “... or as specified by the Purchaser” and “... and the lining
holdback shall be as specified by the Purchaser for the type of joint required.”
4.4.2.1 (Addition) For sleeved pipe, there shall be no cutback. The cement mortar
lining shall be flush with the end of the pipe.
4.4.2.2 (Addition) For pipe that has been specifically designated for butt welding, the
cement mortar lining shall be cutback a minimum of 10 mm to a maximum of 25
mm from the end of the pipe.
4.4.2.3 (Addition) The thickness of the cement lining shall be checked within 0.6m of
the end of the pipe at the 3, 6, 9, and 12 o'clock positions.
(Addition) Verification
5.1 (Addition) The following additional tests shall be performed prior to and during
lining. This table shows the properties to be tested, the test method, the
frequency for testing and the acceptance criteria. The Purchaser reserves the
right to require more frequent or additional test if these criteria are not met.

5.2 (Addition) Purchase reserves the right to obtain samples, of either the delivered
product or its constituent components, whichever the Purchase deems
necessary to verify compliance to any of the quality requirements stated in this
specification.
(Addition) The Vendor shall furnish all equipment and instruments needed to
perform inspections. The items manufactured to this Specification are subject
to verification by the Purchaser's Inspection Representative, per Saudi Aramco
Inspection Requirements Form 175-012500, attached to the Purchase Order.
5.5 (Addition) any rejected materials should be removed and replaced at no extra
cost to the Purchaser.
6.2 (Modification) Plastic end covers should not be removed until immediately prior
to the pipe installation.
6.3 (Modification) Contractor to provide the certificate that the materials and the
workmanship are compiled to this specification.
