1 Scope
2.1 Any conflicts between this document and other applicable Mandatory Saudi
Aramco Engineering Requirements (MSAERs) shall be addressed to the
EK&RD Coordinator.
2.2 Any deviation from the requirements herein shall follow internal company
procedure SAEP-302.
3 References
The selection of material and equipment, and the design, construction, maintenance, and
repair of equipment and facilities covered by this standard shall comply with the latest
edition of the references listed below unless otherwise noted.
The following paragraph numbers refer to PIP STS03601 (December, 2010), which is
part of this specification. The text in each paragraph is an addition, exception,
modification, or deletion to PIP STS03601 as noted. Paragraph numbers not appearing
in PIP STS03601 are new paragraphs to be inserted in numerical order.
2.1 (Deletion) Delete this paragraph in its entirety except PIP REIE686.
4.6.1 (Addition) Epoxy grout shall be used for all dynamic equipment as described
in SAES-Q-007
The ratio of aggregate to resin and hardener shall be per the manufacturer
recommendations. If aggregate ratio is adjusted for field conditions,
physical properties shall be obtained at the recommended fill ratio.
4.6.5.4 The resin and catalyst components shall be free of hard sediment, show no
gelation in a freshly opened can, and shall be of proper consistency to enable
thorough mixing to a smooth homogenous state. The components shall show
no gelling when stored for the shelf life indicated on the data sheets from the
date of manufacture in unopened containers at temperatures of 32°C.
Resin and catalyst containers shall not leak when subjected to normal shipping
and storage. Packaging shall meet the requirements of 09-SAMSS-060.
4.6.5.5 All components, resin, hardener, and aggregate shall be properly labeled,
including batch numbers, shelf life and storage requirements.
4.7.3 (Addition) Grout shall be applied only when surrounding temperatures are
between 15C and 32C unless otherwise specified in the manufacturer's
data sheets.
4.7.8 (Addition) Expansion joints shall be incorporated into large epoxy grout
pours to reduce the possibility of cracking, especially when machinery-to-
grout temperature differentials of 30°C are encountered. Expansion joints
should be placed at approximately 1.2 m to 1.8 m intervals in the grout
foundation.
4.8.3.16 (Addition) If the grout pour is 100 mm or deeper, the grout manufacturer
recommendations for installing reinforcement rebars shall be followed.
4.8.3.17 (Addition) The designer shall produce detailed design information of the
grout layout for special-purpose machinery as recommended by PIP REIE686.
Grout layout drawings shall be completed during engineering design and shall
be submitted to the purchaser for review. These drawings shall be included in
the design package for the machinery foundation.
5 Materials
Epoxy grout for equipment or machine baseplates shall meet the following physical
properties
Minimum bond strength of epoxy grout to concrete (ASTM C882): 2000 psi (14
MPa)
All materials shall be delivered to the job site in original unopened packages and shall
be stored in accordance with the manufacturer’s recommendations. All materials and
tools shall be stored in a clean and organized manner.
