In order to equip it with a graphic presentation which

would readily demonstrate any overlapping of ftmction, incon-
sistencies in nomenclature and l.Dl.desitable administrative pati:-
tems, 'the: Legislative Col.Dl.cil was directed by the Governor's
Committee on Administrative Organization to prepare a chart
showing the organization of state government on a functional
basis. Such a chart has been prepared for the Committee
and is now available to others, although in a limited supply,
upon request. In order to further assist the Governor's Com -
mittee in its study of state government administration, there
was prepared a list of the legal citations relating to the num -
erous offices, boards, and agencies appearing on the organ-
izational chart. Thus, this listing takes the reader directly
from the chart into the law authorizing each activity shown
thereon and he can become more specifically informed re-
garding said activity. This index of laws, then, is intended
as a ,supplement to the functional organizational chart of
Colorado State Government.

Acknowledgement

The preparation of the functional organizational chart was

was a task of considerable magnitude due to the fact that it
is the first time in many years that Colorado State Govern-
ment has been portrayed in this manner. Much credit is due
to the Bureau of State and Community Service, University of
Colorado, the Bureau Director, William Grelle, and Bureau
Consultant, Dr. Leo C. Riethmhyer for their assistance in
supervising graduate students Paul Clark and Donald L. Pol-
lard in the preparation of the organizational chart and the
index. Without the long hours devoted to this task by these
men such a chart and index would not now be available. In
addition sincere appreciation is extended to the Colorado
Planning Commission Director, W. W. Williams and Commis-
sion draftsman Douglas Kuwano for the time, patience and
effort devoted to expertly putting the chart in condition for
reproduction.
