3.4.0 Data Presentation and Analysis

 The questions will analyze and summarize all the answers of respondents based on

the survey because some of them are the same answers about what building

materials are safe to use in resilient structures. The researcher will interpret the

answers of respondents.

 In question number two (2) letter “a” There are five (5) questions that will answer the

respondents would rate their agreement with each statement using a Likert scale,

from "Strongly Disagree" to "Strongly Agree."

 Also, a review of related literature and case studies are tools to gather data regarding

the research question which involves Sustainable and resilient architecture. With

that, the interpretation of data and analysis will see the connection or relationship of

variables to each other which are: Building materials, Energy-saving technology,

Building innovations/techniques, Smart Home Sustainability Services, and health unit

activities of the users’ health, comfort, and performance.

3.4.1 Research Question 1:

What are building innovations and materials that can be used to

achieve energy efficiency and improve building performance?

Objective 1: To uncover and evaluate cutting-edge building

innovations and materials to advance energy efficiency and building

performance, offering guidance for sustainable construction practices, and

reducing environmental impact.

a) Ocular Inspection - In the context of identifying building innovations

and materials for energy efficiency and improved building

performance involves physically examining the various technologies,

materials, and construction techniques in real-world settings. This

hands-on approach allows experts, architects, engineers, and

researchers to observe how these innovations are implemented,

integrated, and performed within actual buildings or construction

projects. It provides an opportunity to assess their practicality,

functionality, and effectiveness in achieving energy efficiency and

enhancing building performance. Through on-site visits,

professionals can gain valuable insights into the strengths,

weaknesses, and potential improvements of these solutions,

ensuring that they meet the desired sustainability and performance

goals.

b) Interview - By gathering the answers to this question the building

innovations and materials play a pivotal role in achieving resilient

houses and improving building performance in disaster-prone areas.

Some key innovations include advanced structural engineering

techniques that enhance a building's ability to withstand

earthquakes, hurricanes, and other natural disasters. These

techniques may involve the use of seismic bracing, flexible building

foundations, and reinforced concrete. Additionally, resilient houses

often incorporate hurricane-resistant windows, impact-resistant

roofing materials, and fire-resistant siding to reduce the vulnerability

to various hazards. Innovative insulation materials, such as spray

foam insulation or aerogel, can improve energy efficiency and

thermal performance while also providing better resistance against

extreme temperatures. Smart technology and monitoring systems

can help detect early signs of structural issues or environmental

threats, allowing for timely intervention and improved safety.

The chart provides a quick comparison of the two evaluation

methods, highlighting their respective focuses, participants, key

insights, and benefits in the context of building innovations and

materials.

3.4.2 Research Question 2:

How can these building innovations and materials be beneficial to the

users of the project?

Objective 2: To determine how building innovations and materials

can enhance the well-being and satisfaction of building users, emphasizing

the importance of user-centric resilient housing design and sustainable

construction practices.

a) Survey - This table, related to question number 2, respondents

would rate their agreement with each statement using a Likert scale,

from "Strongly Disagree" to "Strongly Agree." This survey can

provide valuable feedback on how users perceive the benefits of

building innovations and materials in terms of comfort, cost savings,

health, and overall satisfaction.

Figure 35: Percentage of answers of the respondents

Based on the charts above, there are 21 respondents answered the survey,

the result shows that most of the respondents with an average percentage of 44%

strongly agree with the following statements pertaining to how buildings with

energy-efficient features, sustainability, and such benefits can enhance the well-

being of the end-users in terms of productivity, healthier viewpoints, and most

importantly, how it can improve their physical health through comfortability. The

rest of the respondents, with an average percentage of 29% agree, 9% have a

neutral point of view, 10% disagree, and 8% only strongly disagree.

After the process of data gathering and measuring information through this

Survey Questionnaire, it was evaluated that the possibility of innovating energy-

efficient buildings can have a huge impact not just among the end users but also

on how it will reduce energy consumption and conserve natural resources through

sustainable practices.

Question Survey

How can these building By gathering the answers to

innovations and materials be this question, the building

beneficial to the users of the innovations and materials can

project? provide numerous benefits to

the users of a project. Firstly,

innovations like smart home

technology can enhance

convenience and efficiency.

For instance, users can control

lighting, temperature, and

security systems remotely, and

flood sensors make their lives

more comfortable and secure.

Additionally, sustainable

building materials, such as

low-emission paints and

energy-efficient insulation,

contribute to healthier indoor

environments by reducing

toxins and improving air

quality. Moreover, these

materials often lead to lower

utility bills, saving users money

in the long run. They also

support environmental

sustainability, which aligns with

growing eco-consciousness

and can boost the property's

resale value. In summary,

building innovations and

materials enhance

convenience, health, cost-

effectiveness, sustainability,

and property value, making

them highly beneficial to

project users.

Interpretation of answer:

Figure 36: AI and machine learning are increasingly being used to set up

smart home systems and buildings.

The person who answered question 2 that smart home technology

can enhance convenience and efficiency? Yes, because Smart thermostats

can learn user preferences, save energy, and enhance convenience. Smart

home tech offers remote control, automation, security, and customization,

improving daily life. The focus shifts to flood sensors, which play a crucial

role in safeguarding homes and the environment. They detect water-related

issues, empowering homeowners to prevent damage, save resources, and

reduce energy consumption. Flood sensors also promote environmental

sustainability, potentially lowering insurance costs and encouraging

sustainable practices, aligning with responsible resource management and

sustainable living goals. Household system monitors can, for example,

sense a power surge and turn off appliances, sense water failures or

freezing pipes and turn off the water so the home doesn't flood.

3.4.3 Research Question 3:

How can the resilient design project influence users’ performance,

health, safety, security, and comfort?

Objective: To investigate how resilient design can impact users'

performance, health, safety, security, and comfort in a built environment.

This study aims to understand the potential benefits of resilient design

features in enhancing the productivity, well-being, safety, and overall

satisfaction of individuals while summarizing the key findings and

implications for creating more resilient and user-friendly spaces.

By gathering the answers, the intrusion of water can lead to the

growth of mold, mildew, and other contaminants within a structure, which

can severely compromise indoor air quality. IAQ monitoring systems

continuously track key parameters such as humidity, temperature, and

airborne pollutants, allowing for real-time assessment of indoor air

conditions. This data helps in identifying potential health hazards and

ensures that appropriate measures can be taken promptly. IAQ

monitoring systems are essential in resilient structures as they provide

early detection of indoor air quality issues during floods, enabling timely

responses to protect the health and safety of occupants.

elements in living and working spaces have been linked to improved

physical and mental health, and because of this, the relationship

between wholesome, resilient, and sustainable environments is now

being closely examined. Thus, the increasingly common lens of

resilience may be used to understand holistic views of health as well as

goals for human health. This perspective is undoubtedly valuable, and

there are many ways that biophilic design and planning are advancing

the cause of resilient (and sustainable) cities and communities.

Therefore, it is imperative to apply the concept of biophilic design

not only in new designs but also within existing landscape sites.
