Genting to Lanang Bridge, Sibu. The project will be implemented as below: a) 2) (3) Package A comprises approximately 112km of a new JKR R5 Standard 2-lane single carriageway from Samarahan to Roban with an extent link to Pan Bomeo Highway including construction of Batang Saribas Bridge, minor bridges, junctions and overtaking lanes; Package B comprises approximately 92km of a new JKR R5 Standard 2-lane single carriageway from Sebuyau to Sri Aman / Betong including construction of Batang Lingga Bridge, Batang Lupar Bridge No. 2, minor bridges, junctions and overtaking lanes; and Package C comprises upgrading of approximately 30km of Jalan Kelupu / Jalan Tg. Genting to Lanang Bridge, Sibu into dual-carriageway JKR RS 4-lane road, including construction of minor bridges, junctions, and overtaking lanes. Package B is further divided into four (4) packages as below: (1) Package B1 - from Sebuyau to Lingga Town Including Sg. Lingga Bridge, Samarahan and Sti Aman Division. This work package mainly consists of approximately 32.2km proposed road, one (1) proposed major bridge over Sg. Lingga, and two (2) proposed minor bridge. This section starts from a proposed roundabout (by other) at Sebuyau, which links to proposed bridge over Batang Lupar (by other), and ends at Lingga (KM32.2). The terrain encountered is generally flat with soft ground condition. The main access to this area is basically via existing roads near Sebuyau and Lingga Town or Batang Lupar river. Package B2 - from Lingga to Proposed Batang Lupar Bridge No. 2 at Sri Aman Town, Sri Aman Division. This work package mainly consists of approximately 32.9km proposed road and three (3) proposed minor bridge. This section starts from Lingga (KM32.9) to Sri Aman (KM64.7), before crossing the Batang Lupar. The terrain encountered is generally flat with soft ground condition. The main access to this area is basically via existing road which connects Lingga Town and Sri Aman Town. ‘Speclicalon of Particular Apateation ~ Secon 1 Page7 PROPOSED CONSTRUCTION AND COMPLETION OF THE SARAWAK SECOND TRUNK ROAD (Package B3: Proposed Batang Lupar Bridge No.2 at Sri Aman Town, Sri Aman Division) (3) (4) Package B3 - Proposed Batang Lupar Bridge No. 2 at Sri Aman Town, Sri ‘Aman Division. This work package consists of approximately 870m span proposed cable stayed bridge over Batang Lupar, complete with approach roads. This section forms the major link between Sri Aman (KM64.7) and Betong (KM67.65) Package B4 - from Proposed Batang Lupar Bridge No. 2 at Sri Aman Town to Betong Interchange (at Pan Borneo Highway), Betong Division. This work Package mainly consists of approximately 24.3km proposed road and one (1) proposed minor bridges. This section starts after the Proposed Batang Lupar Bridge No. 2 (KM67.65) and ends at Betong Interchange at Pan Bomeo Highway (KIM91.5). The terrain encountered is generally rolling to undulating. This section includes upgrading of the existing (approximately 2.65km) road from Lidong Junction to Betong Junction." 1.2 SUB-SECTION “1.2 - SCOPE OF WORKS” 1.21 The Contractor shall provide everything necessary for the proper execution of the works as shown on the list of drawings as per Volume 4 of 4 and as described in the Specification as per Volume 3 of 4. The scope of works for Package B3 (comprises of approximately 870m span proposed cable stayed bridge over Batang Lupar and approach roads. This section forms the major link between Sri Aman (at KM64.7) and Betong (at KM67.65) includes, but is not limited to the followings: (a) (b) (o) (d) (e) © (9) (h) Site Investigation works for one (1) No. confirmatory borehole on proposed road and one (1) No. confirmatory borehole on proposed bridge site during construction, complete with field and laboratory testing and reporting. Site clearing and grubbing and stripping of top soil. Demolition of existing buildings and/or structures affected by the Works. Provision and construction of all necessary temporary river crossings, road diversions and temporary access roads for the proper and expeditious execution of this Contract. Excavation in common and rock materials to the formation level including trimming, and turfing on cut slopes and berms. Special embankment construction over peaty and clayey soil Construction of drainage works including culverts, diversion drains, interceptor drains, roadside drains, embankment drains, cascade drains, outfall chutes, horizontal drains and other drainage structures. Construction of asphaltic concrete road pavement with road shoulders and road furniture, including traffic signal system at Sri Aman Junction 1 and Sri ‘Aman Junetion 2. Construction of a 2-lane single carriageway cable stayed bridge over of 870m ‘span comprising 2 No. reinforced concrete towers with prestressed reinforced concrete deck on piled foundation, and piled embankments; complete with mechanical ventilation works, tower lighting system, bridge/street and petiialion of Parcular Application = Section 7 Page-2 PROPOSED CONSTRUCTION AND COMPLETION OF THE SARAWAK SECOND TRUNK ROAD (Package B3: Proposed Batang Lupar Brge No.2 al ii Aman Town, Si Aman Division) 13 1.3.4 14 144 15 154 navigation lighting. () Utilities relocation to the following services including liaison with relevant authorities: ‘* Existing 150mm diameter water pipeworks from CH.64700 to CH.67650; + Existing HV and LV electrical services at CH.65600 — CH.65700, at Sri Aman Junction 1 and at Sri Aman Junction; and * Civil Works for Telekom Services at Sri Aman Junetion 1. (®) Environmental management and protection measures such as provision of Environmental Management Plan (EMP), environmental control, monitoring and auditing, and the provision, maintenance and removal upon completion of erosion and sediment control plan (ESCP). (Preparation and submission of Traffic Management Plan and Report including provision of traffic management team, independent checker, and provision, maintenance and removal upon completion of temporary road diversion, temporary road furniture. (m) Provisional sums for: + "SESCo (or Sarawak Energy Berhad) connection charges"; * "Telekom Malaysia Services Relocation Cost"; ‘+ "Bridge Tower Decorative Lighting System"; and * "Structural Health Monitoring System (SHMS) of Bridge". (n) All works incidental to the project including any modifications to be carried out in accordance with the Conditions and Specification of this Contract.” SUB-SECTION “AD1.4.2 — Requirements of The Construction Programme” Replace the first sentence of clause (a) with the following: “The Contractor shall submit to the S.0. for his approval the Construction Programme using Critical Path Method Analysis Programme showing the order or procedure and method in which the Contractor proposes to carry out the works within any time constraints applicable.” SUB-SECTION “AD1.7 — MATERIALS OF MALAYSIAN ORIGIN” Replace the words “Appendix AD-1F, (appended to this Addendum)," in line 1 of first paragraph with the words "Appendix 2 ~ List of Materials of Malaysian Origin in Tender Document Volume 3 of 4” SUB-SECTION “1.15 - OFFICE ACCOMMODATION FOR S.0. AND HIS STAFF” Delete the whole of the existing sub-section 1.15 in Jabatan Kerja Raya Standard Specification _for_Road Works (including Bridge Structures), document JKR/SPJ/1988 (JKR_20401-0017-89) and Addendum No..S-1 (Rev. 1) to Jabatan Kerja Raya Standard Specification for Road Works (JKR/SPJ/1988) (For use in JKR Road Contracts in Sarawak) October 1997 and replace with the following: ‘Specifeaton of Parcular Application = Section T Page-3 PROPOSED CONSTRUCTION AND COMPLETION OF THE SARAWAK SECOND TRUNK ROAD (Package BS: Proposed Batang Lupa’ Bridge No. 2 st Si Aman Tov, Sri Aman Division) "ADI.A5 AD1.15.1 AD1.15.2 AD1.15.3 SITE BUILDINGS FOR S.0. AND HIS STAFF General The Contractor shall provide Site Buildings, which comprises one (1) block Site Office, one (1) block Material Testing Laboratory, and four (4) blocks Staff Quarter for the exclusive use of the S.O. and his supervisory staff and inclusive of all furniture, fittings, appliances and equipment as specified hereinafter. The rented buildings shall be in close proximity to the Site, and acceptable to S.0. ‘The schedule of areas and rooms of the Site Buildings are as stated in Table AD-1F.1 for Site Office, Table AD-1F.2 for Material Testing Laboratory, and Table AD-1F.3 for Staff Quarter. Mosquito netting of approved type shall be provided to all site buildings as directed by the S.O. The Contractor shall make proper arrangements for and pay all charges in connection with the site buildings. Upon practical completion of the Works, the Contractor shall further maintain Site Buildings for another three (3) months or as directed by the S.O. and thereafter the Site Buildings together with all furniture and fittings which become the property of the Contractor. Services The Contractor shall arrange for the Site Buildings to be connected to the electricity and water supplies from the public utility authorities or private operators. Electricity supply shall be 220/240 volt AC. The supply shall be on 24 hour basis and sufficient to meet the demands for all the equipment and appliances specified The Site Buildings shall be illuminated by fluorescent fittings giving a general level of illumination of at least 215 lumens/sq. m. Additional lighting in the form of wall or deck lamps shall be provided where required by the S.O. Lighting to toilets and corridors may be by tungsten filament bulbs, Thermostatically controlled new air-conditioners capable of monitoring a temperature below 23 degrees Celsius shall be provided in the position as shown on the drawings. The open area in the laboratory shall be provided with ceiling fan. The Contractor shall pay for the electricity and water bills of the Site Buildings, including all necessary connection and disconnection charges, deposits and fees as levied by the relevant authorities. The system shall be connected to the Malaysia's public switch networks by approved means. The Contractor shall also provide data line and data equipment for internet connection, complete with Wi-Fi modem router, and network switch for LAN connectivity. ‘An intercom system with six (6) extensions connecting the various rooms/areas of the site office and the laboratory and the Contractor's office that comprises six extensions or more shall also be provided as part of a separate system to the main system. The Contractor shall only be responsible for the complete installations and connections of the telecommunication system. Daily Cleaning and Watching The Contractor shall make provision for the daily cleaning of all the site buildings and to maintain the buildings in a thoroughly clean and sanitary condition. in addition the Contractor shall engage at least two watchmen to provide security around the clock and every day inclusive of public holidays and weekends. Maintenance The Contractor shall maintain the whole of the facilities provided as specified in sub-section AD1.15. Maintenance shall be provided at all times and the Contractor shall supply all necessary labour, materials, parts and replacement for all equipment and appliances for all necessary repair works. The Contractor shall also supply the stationeries for the Site Office and Material Testing Laboratory as and when required by the S.O. and his representatives. Furniture, Fittings, Appliances and Equipment Furniture, fittings, appliances and equipment to be provided to the site buildings shall all be new and as listed in Tables AD-1F.1, AD-1F.2 and AD-1F.3 in Appendix AD-1F of this specification. Speed Boat for the S.0, and His Staff The Contractor shall provide one (1) new speedboat made of fibreglass and capable of carrying six (6) passengers, together with an efficient crew for the sole use of the S.0. and his staff. The boat shall be registered, with all duties paid, and insured. It shall be equipped with a full too! kit and seven (7) adult lfe jackets. The Contractor shall service and maintain with all fuel, fittings and spare parts as may be required for reliable operation until the practical completion of the Works. The diameter of the steel wire core of PVC coated wire; used in the fabrication of the netting shall be 2.7mm with a PVC coating, extruded onto the wire core, having a minimum thickness of 0.55mm. An overall nominal diameter of 3.8mm results. AD3.11.2.3 Elongation of Wire Test shall be made on the wire core before PVC coating and fabrication of the netting on a sample 30cm long, Elongation shall not be less than 12%, AD3.11.2.4. Galvanizing All wire used in the fabrication of the Gabions and in the wiring operation during construction shall be galvanised to BS 443/1982 "Galvanized Coating on wire", that is to say the minimum weight of the zinc coating shall be according to the figures shown in the table below: Nominal Diameter of Wire Minimum Weight of Coating 2.2mm - 240 gim? 2.7mm 260 gim? 3.4mm 275 gim? The adhesion of the zinc coating to the wire should be such that, when the wire is wrapped six turns around a mandrel of 4 times the diameter of the wire, it does not flake or crack to such an extent that any flakes of zinc can be removed by rubbing with the bare fingers. AD3.11.2.5 Selvedges All edges of the Gabions, diaphragms and end panels shall be mechanically selvedged in such a way as to prevent unravelling of the mesh and to develop the full strength of the mesh. Lacing Wire Sufficient lacing and connecting PVC wire is supplied with the Gabions for all the wiring operations to be carried out. The quantity of such wire is estimated to be 5% approximately of the gabions weight supplied. The diameter of lacing wire shall be 2.2mm and shall comply with the same specification of the wire used in the mesh. AD3.11.2.8 PVC Co: All wire used in the fabrication of the gabions and in the wiring operations during construction shall, after galvanizing, have extruded onto it a coating of poly vinyl chloride compound, otherwise referred to as 'PVC'. The coating shall be grey in colour, shall nowhere be less than 0.55mm in thickness and shall be capable of resisting deleterious effects of natural weather exposure, immersion in salt water and shall not show any material characteristics which are:- (a) Tensile strength shall_not be less than 250kg/sq. cm in accordance with ASTM D412. () Elongation shall not be greater than 260% and not less than 200% in accordance with ASTM D412. its initial (c) Modulus of elasticity at 100% of elongation shall not be less than 250kg/cm in accordance with ASTM D412. AD3.11.2.9 Stone AD3.11.3 AD3.11.4 Stone fill for gabions shall be clean rough quarry stone, or pit or river cobbles, or a mixture of any of these materials, and shall be essentially free from dust, clay, vegetative matter and other deleterious materials. Individual pieces of stone shall have least dimensions not less than 20mm larger than the gabion mesh openings and greatest dimensions not more than 250mm. The stone shall be hard, tough, durable and dense, resistant to the action of air and water, and suitable in all aspects for the purpose intended. The material shall be approved by the S.O. Construction Methods Prior to placing gabions, the surface on and against which they are to be constructed shall have been prepared and finished in accordance with the relevant provisions of the appropriate Sections of this Specification. Notwithstanding any earlier approval of these finished surfaces, any damage to or deterioration of them shall be made good to the satisfaction of the S.0, before gabions are placed. Each gabion basket shall be put in place in its turn, completely fabricated except for the fastening down of the lid, stretched to the correct shape and dimensions, and fastened securely to all contiguous baskets along each edge with tying wire. The basket shall then be tightly packed with approved stone by hand in such a manner that voids are kept to a practicable minimum and are uniformly distributed in the stone mass. Finally, the lid of the basket shall be securely fastened down with tying wire along all hitherto unfastened edges, all to the satisfaction of the S.O. In no case shall the weight of the finished gabion be less than 1300 kg per cubic metre. As a gabion structure is built up, backfiling against finished gabions shall be carried out as necessary for proper progressive construction, all in accordance with the relevant provisions of the appropriate Sections of this Specification. Unless otherwise specified, vertical joints between gabions shall be staggered in gabion structures in a pattern similar to the joints in running bond brickwork. TRIPLE WALL PROFILED HDPE CULVERT AD3.12.1 General The specification below shall cover the technical and general requirement for the supply and installation of the HDPE culvert for the project described herein. All culverts supplied and install shall fully meet the requirements and specification described herein and the contract drawings. The contractor shall be fully responsible for the supply and installation of the HDPE culvert as per specification and the contract drawings. AD3.12.2 Material Specification The HDPE culvert required for this contract shall be profiled HDPE culvert or approved equivalent product. In view of the site condition which could be acidic, the culvert shall be manufactured from 100% virgin grade HDPE PE100 MRS 10 MPa material. The material shall have a minimum tensile strength of 17 MPa and an ultimate elongation at break of 200% when tested to ASTM D 638. ‘The materials shall have a minimum Environmental Stress Cracking Resistance (ESCR) OF 10,000 HOURS (10% Igepal) when tested to ASTM 1693. The material must fully meet or exceed the performance parameters and technical specification stated herein. Culverts, joint or welded together from short pieces are not acceptable. The culverts shall be of TRIPLE-WALL CLOSED PROFILE DESIGN; ie. smooth intemal and external walls with continuous, corrugated profile within the wall. This design will ensure that the culvert achieves maximum stiffness at the lightest possible weight for ease of transportation and handling. Culverts of "knock-down" design and construction (e.g. culverts made of several parts that are to be assembled together at site) are not acceptable. Culverts made with metal reinforcement, inserts or fasteners shall not be accepted as they are susceptible to corrosion and chemical attack when in contact with the soil and effluent. The culverts shall be designed & manufactured to DIN 16961 Part 1 & 2 - Thermoplastic pipes and fittings with profiled outer and smooth inner surfaces. The manufacturing facility, producing the culverts, must have a valid Product Certification License from SIRIM for all the sizes of culvert offered. A copy of the license must be submitted to the S.0, for inspection and record purposes. The culverts of series 5 shall have a minimum ring stiffness of 31.5Kn/m?, Any culverts supplied, that is lower than series 5 shall not be accepted. Compliance to this pipe series should be clearly shown in the product certification license. In line with the government's support for local manufactured products, the culvert used in the contract must be manufactured in Malaysia. The contractor must provide a copy of the manufacturing license produced by the manufacturer to ascertain the local status of the manufacturing facility. Imported culverts will not be accepted. Prior to the procuring the culvert materials, the contractor must submit to the Superintending Officer (S.O) of this project, a cut section sample measuring 1 sq. foot of the culvert pipe wall to be used in the project, the product's original brochures, and the manufacturer's QA/QC department original test report showing compliance to the above stated specification. ‘Specification of Particular Application - Section 3 (Rev. 0) Page -8 PROPOSED CONSTRUCTION AND COMPLETION OF THE SARAWAK SECOND TRUNK ROAD (Package B3: Proposed Balang Lupar Bridge No.2 Bridge At Svi Aman Town, Sri Aman Division) AD3.12.4 AD3.12.5 Handling and Storage The HDPE culvert shall be handled and stored as per instructions stated herein. The contractor shall be fully responsible for both onsite and offsite handling and storage of the HDPE culverts. The contractor shall ensure that the HDPE culverts are delivered and install on site in good and acceptable condition. The contractor shall be responsible for setting aside a clear area for products storage on site, The storage area should be flat, free of large rocks, rough surfaces, and debris. It should also be out of the way of construction traffic. The storage area must also be free from heat source. The culverts shall be lifted using a nylon strap sling or cushioned cables during loading and unloading onsite. All lifting accessories in contact with the HDPE culvert shall be properly cushioned to avoid damages to the HDPE culvert during handling. The contractor shall be responsible for providing lifting equipment with sufficient capacity for handling the HDPE culvert. All HDPE culverts shall be stacked properly and responsibly to ensure that the integrity of the HDPE culvert is not compromised. HDPE culverts shall not be supported in such a way that will cause it to be twisted or bowed. Stacking height shall be limited to 5 units but not exceeding 3m and must be adequately wedge to prevent movement. Other accessories such as clamp joints shall be packaged in different ways depending on quantity and stored separately. Installation The HDPE culvert shall be installed as per instructions and contract drawings stated herein. The contractor shall be responsible for providing suitable equipment for proper installation of the HDPE culvert. The trench size, gradient and depth shall be excavated as per contract drawings. The trench should be wide enough to place the HDPE culvert and allow for proper backfilling and compaction. The bottom of the trench shall be fiat. For application that requires hogging, the angle of hogging shall not exceed the minimum bending radius of 200 times the nominal outside diameter of the pipe, or a maximum of 1.5 degrees measured from the pipes neutral axis. The trench shall be kept dry at all times. The bedding layer shall be filled, prepared, levelled with clean sand and compacted by way of mechanical ramping. The bedding must be free from debris, coarse gravel or rocks. The culvert shall be lowered carefully onto the well compacted bedding. The contractor shall first lower the first half of the culvert and ensure that the alignment is proper. A 3mm thick stainless steel culvert clamp equipped with rubber sleeve on the inner wall, shall then be lowered onto the bedding. The second half of the culvert shall then be lowered onto the culvert clamp. The contractor must now ensure that both culverts are properly aligned. Backfilling shall be carried out evenly ‘on both sides of the HDPE culvert in layers of 150mm thick. Each layer shall be sufficiently compacted by mechanical ramping. The backfilling shall continue until the compacted sand level reaches a minimum of 300mm above the crown of the HDPE culvert. Stainless Steel Clamp Joints Design & Construction The joint shall be of clamp-type and only clamp joints supplied or recommended by the culvert manufacturer should be used. The joint shall comprise of a stainless-steel perimeter clamp and a flexible rubber sleeve gasket on the inner clamp surface. Stainless steel bolts and nuts shall then be used to tighten the clamp end and to secure the stainless steel clamp onto the culvert pipes as according to the supplier's drawing Clamp Material As the clamp joint may be used in acidic, peat swamp environment, the clamp material and all metal fasteners shall be of Grade 304 Stainless Steel to prevent material corrosion. The sleeve gasket shall be of min 4.5mm thickness soft, elastic material (e.g. rubber or equivalent) with useful temperature at 0° C to 80°C. The clamp metal sheet shall be of 3mm thickness and the angle bar used of 4mm thickness. Where proof rolling indicates areas of softwet subgrade or areas of non-uniform subgrade stability, the subgrade shall be rectified and proof rolling test repeated, The test shall be carried out on all driving lanes of the subgrade layer (i.e, at formation level in areas where pavement structure is to be constructed) or as directed by the S.O after the subgrade has been compacted and shaped within the tolerances as per the Specification. ‘Specification of Particular Application - Section 4 (Rev.0) Page-3 PROPOSED CONSTRUCTION AND COMPLETION OF THE SARAWAK SECOND TRUNK ROAD (Package B3: Proposed Batang Lupar Bridge No.2 Bridge At Sr Aman Town, Si Aman Dhsion) AD4.16.2 AD4.16.3 Machinery and Equipment The Contractor shall perform testing on the stability and uniformity of the subgrade by proof rolling. The proof roller shall conform to the following and subject to the approval of the S.0. i. Tandem axle, dual wheel truck; ii. Suitable loading platform; ili, Max. gross weight with load/ballast : 35 000 — 45 000 kg (35 — 45 tonnes) The Failure Deformation Limit (FDL) shall be measured by using a measurement tool with a 3m long straight edge (see Figure 4.1). In working condition, the proof roller also shall have @ minimum contact width of 2.3m between the two tyres per axle and it shall be well designed because gross weight of loaded truck may be various uniformity from 35 000 kg (36 tonnes) to 45 000 kg (45 tonnes) of loading. Before the proof rolling test started, the actual weight of the roller and the tyre pressure to be used in each test area shall be determined. ‘The actual weight of the proof roller shall refer to the largest weight of the proof roller, while the tyre pressure shall be the lowest tyre pressure that can be considered practicable; all subject to the approval of the 8.0. The ballast shall consist of ingots of known weight, sand bags with a weight of 45kg, bags of other material of known weight, or other suitable material, such that the total ballast weight is readily determinable at all times. The ballast shall be properly regulated to ensure that the load carried are balanced and stable when operating on uneven surfaces. Testing Procedure Before commencement of the proof rolling test, the subgrade compaction shall comply with the specified requirements stipulated in Section 2: Earthworks. The Contractor shall ensure that all the requirements specified under Sub-Section AD4.16.2 have been prepared and complied with the approval of the S.O. The tire pressure of the proof roller shall not be less than 90% of 1030 kPa during the increase of the weight to 35 — 45 tonnes. The proof rolling equipment shall be operated within a speed between 4.0 km/hr. to 8.0 kmJhr, The speed shall be adjusted to allow measurement of deflection, ruts or elasticity. Cracks on subgrade due to proof rolling shall be recorded. Proof rolling test shall be carried out systematically in longitudinal anes. It shall be commenced outside one edge of the area to be proof rolled and consecutive lanes shall overlap each other to ensure that every part of the surface to be proof rolled receives at least one (1) proof roller. Only one trip of the proof roller shall be made on any area, ‘Specification of Paricular Application - Section 4 (Rev.0) Page-4 PROPOSED CONSTRUCTION AND COMPLETION OF THE SARAWAK SECOND TRUNK ROAD (Package B3: Proposed Batang Lupar Bridge No.2 Bridge At Sri Aman Town, S1i Aman Division) AD4.16.4 The proof rolling test shall not be performed during conaitions of the subgrade layer is too dry or too wet. The proof rolling shall not be permitted at the following areas: i, Within a lateral distance of 4.5m from the bridge abutment and/or retaining wall ji, Within a lateral and vertical distances of 3m from culvert, water pipe, and utility crossings. ill, Within a lateral distance of 3m from building or other structures Acceptance Criteria The vertical deformation limit is termed as Failure Deformation Limit (FDL) as per Figure 4.1 below. 180mm FOL Measurement (Max) Formation Level “op of Subga Figure 4.1: Measurement of Failure Deformation Limit (FDL) The maximum deformation of the subgrade shall be recorded and evaluated in accordance to the following acceptance criteria: Case 1 The tire ruts settlement or deflection less than 25mm shall be acceptable. The subgrade shall be re-shaped within the tolerances specified in the Specification. Case 2A The tire ruts settlement or deflection exceeding 25mm but not more than 50mm can be considered acceptable if there are no severe cracks or excessive lateral movement on the subgrade. The subgrade shall be re-shaped within the tolerances specified in the Specification. Case 2B The tire ruts settlement or deflection exceeding 25mm but not more than 50mm but with severe cracks or excessive lateral movement on the subgrade shall be considered a failure. The subgrade shall be rectified and compacted to the required density. Case 3 The tire ruts settlement or deflection exceeding 50mm but Rot more than 150mm shall be considered a ire. The subgrade shall be rectified and compacted to the required density. ‘Specification of Particular Application - Section 4 (Rev. 0) Page-5 PROPOSED CONSTRUCTION AND COMPLETION OF THE SARAWAK SECOND TRUNK ROAD (Package B3: Proposed Batang Lupar Bridge No.2 Bridge At Sri Aman Towa, Sri Aman Division) Case 4 The tire ruts settlement or deflection exceeding 150mm shall be considered a failure. The subgrade shall be re- constructed. AD4.16.5 Remedial Works for Soft Subgrade Where proof rolling indicates areas of soft subgrade or areas of non- uniform subgrade stability, the S.O. will investigate for the source of the problem. Detailed investigation and laboratory tests of the subgrade samples shall be carried out as directed by the S.O. to investigate the root cause of the problem by directing the Contractor to carry out the test pits. The test pits with a depth of 0.6m to 1.5m shall be carried out at the failure locations as agreed by the S.O. The laboratory test results shall be evaluated to determine if geotechnical improvement or other appropriate corrective measures are required. The Contractor is responsible for all problems found and shall correct the subgrade to a uniform and satisfactory stability as directed by the 8.0. For Cases 2B and 3 under Sub-Section AD4.16.4, the top 300-600mm of the subgrade shall be removed and replaced with capping material up to the formation level as directed by the S.O. The replacement material shall be compacted to the required density as per the Specification. Proof rolling test shall be carried out again as normal upon completion of the subgrade rectification. For Case 4 under Sub-Section AD4.16.4, the subgrade shall be reconstructed in accordance to the Specification. Proof rolling test shall be carried out again as normal upon completion of the subgrade reconstruction.
