QUESTION 1
Figure 1 below shows a reinforced concrete floor layout for a multi‐storey building. You
are required to detail and schedule the 350 x 600 continuous beam on grid line 2. Use a
horizontal scale of 1:50 and a vertical scale of 1:20 for the elevation and a scale of 1:10
for the section. Remember to indicate on the
elevation where the section is taken.

Figure 2 below shows the reinforcement as designed by the structural engineer. Please
also take note of the following:

 Concrete strength/class is 35 MPa

 Concrete cover to the reinforcement is 45mm.
