AN ORDER REORGANIZING THE

BARANGAY NUTRITION COUNCIL (BNC)
OF BARANGAY APAD QUEON

WHEREAS, Malnutrition is seriously affecting millions of our people;

WHEREAS, malnutrition retards mental and physical development of our children, weaken their
resistance to infections resulting in unnecessary loss of human lives through high infant and child mortality
rates;

WHEREAS, coordination has proven to be of great value in integrating the food and nutrition efforts of
various concerned individuals in our country downward to barangay level;

WHEREAS, under Presidential Decree No. 491 which is the Nutrition Act of the Philippines, a National
Nutrition Council was created to be the highest policy making and coordinating body on nutrition;

WHEREAS, with the assumption to office of the newly elected barangay officials, there is a need to
reorganize all barangay special bodies specifically the Barangay Nutrition Council;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Hon. Frederick B. Divinagracia, Punong Barangay of Barangay Apad Quezon,
Calauag, Quezon, do hereby order that:

Section 1. COMPOSITION. The Barangay Nutrition Council (BNC) of Barangay Apad Quezon, Calauag,
Quezon is hereby reorganized and shall be composed of the following:

Section 2. DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS. The Barangay Nutrition Council (BNC) shall have the following duties
and functions:

1. Formulate local food and nutrition policies, strategies, programs and projects for nutrition
improvement;

2. Coordinate the planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the integrated local Plan of
Action for children;

3. Coordinate with other institutions concerned for resources generation; and

4. Call on other departments and instrumentalities of local government unit for assistance in the
forms of personnel, facilities and resources, as the need arises.

Section 3. EFFECTIVITY. This Order shall take effect immediately.
