OBJECTIVES
This quantitative study aims to determine the grieving process of a family member on the
death of a loved ones in times of COVID-19 Pandemic. Specifically, it seeks to reveal the
following objectives:
1. Determine the profile of the family member in terms of sex, age, length of
bereavement.
2. Identify the stages of grieving process in terms of denial, anger, bargaining, depression
and acceptance.
3. Enumerate the effects of the death of a family member on the physical, psychological,
social, financial and spiritual well-being of the respondents.
4. Know what are the different coping strategies of the respondents in terms of physical,
psychological, social, financial and spiritual well-being.
5. Find out if there is a relationship on the effects and coping strategies of the respondents
in terms of physical, psychological, social, financial and spiritual well-being.
6. Identify if there is a significant difference between the grieving process, effects and
coping strategies of the respondents according to demographic profile.
DESCRIPTION OF THE RESEARCH
Dear Respondent,
Good Day! The undersigned researcher, Dhidree R. Agamata, is a third-year student
nurse taking Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Southern Luzon State University. She is
currently working on her research entitled “Grieving, Effects and Coping Strategies of a
Family Member on the Death of a Loved One in times of COVID-19 Pandemic”.
In line with this, the undersigned would like to humbly ask for your participation in the
said study by answering the questionnaire. This will focus on the grieving process, effects and
coping strategies of a family member on the death of a loved ones in times of COVID-19
pandemic. There are no risks to participating in the study. Your participation will be beneficial
for the researcher. It will help her accomplish the requirement for her degree and help others
who have encountered perceived social discrimination. The researcher’s questionnaire is a
self-made questionnaire that are related to the study for the respondents to answer. It will only
take 5-10 minutes of your time to answer the questionnaire with the following parts:
I. Demographic Profile
II. Grieving Process
III. Effects
IV. Coping Strategies
There will be no payment given in exchange for the participant's participation.
Rest assured that all the information and data you will provide will be treated with strict
confidentiality. It will be only viewed by the researcher, the research adviser, and the
statistician.
Participation is voluntary. If the participant refuses to participate, there will be no
penalties and needed explanation for the refusal.
The researcher is looking forward to your kind cooperation regarding this matter.
