MULTI-

PERSPECTIVITY
HELLO!
MY NAME IS GWEN KAREN L.
VERGARA FROM BSED 1B
INTRODUCTION
MULTIPERSPECTIVITY THIS CAN BE DEFINED
AS A WAY OF LOOKING AT HISTORICAL
EVENTS, PERSONALITIES, DEVELOPMENT,
CULTURE AND SOCIETIES FROM DIFFERENT
PERSPECTIVES.
01
WHAT IS
MULTIPERSPECTIVITY?
Multiperspectivity is a means of looking at historical
events, people, events in history, developments,
culture, and society from several angles. This
indicates that there are many different ways to look
at the world, any of which may be equally partial.
Historical writing is by definition, biased, partial, and
contains preconception. This historian decides on
what sources to use, what interpretation to make
more apparent, and depending on what his end is.
02
HISTORIANS
BELOW ARE SOME OF THE INSTANCES THAT
HISTORIANS MAY EXPERIENCE THAT MAY LEAD TO A
MISINTERPRETATION
● Historians may omit significant facts about their subject, which
make the interpretation unbalanced.

● Historians may impose a certain ideology to their subject, which

may not be appropriate to the period the subject was form.

● Historians may also provide a single cause for an event without

considering other possible causal explanation of said event.

● Historians may misinterpret evidence, attending to those that

suggest that a certain event happened, and then ignore the rest
that goes against the evidence.
03
EXPLORING
MULTIPLE
PERSPECTIVES
Exploring multiple perspectives in history
requires incorporating source materials that
reflect different views of an event in history
because singular historical narratives do not
provide for space to inquire and investigate.
Different sources that counter each other may
create space for more investigation and research,
while providing more evidence, truths that their
sources agree on.
04
KIND OF SOURCES
Different kinds of sources also provide different historical
truths-an official document may note different aspect of the
past than, say, ah memoir of an ordinary person on the same
event. Different historical agents create different historical
truths, and while this may be a burden some work for the
historian, it also renders more validity to the historical
scholarship. Taking these in close regard in the reading of
historical interpretation, it provides for the audience a more
complete and richer understanding of the past.
05
SUMMARIZE
TO SUMMARIZE IT ALL,
MULTIPERSPECTIVITY IS VERY
IMPORTANT FOR US TO MORE
UNDERSTAND OUR PAST OR OUR
HISTORY. HISTORIANS HAVE
DIFFERENT PERCEPTIONS IN
LOOKING A HISTORY AND THEY
HAVE DIFFERENT WAYS OF
LOOKING FOR THEIR SOURCES.
THAT WOULD BE ALL,
THANK YOU!!
