Shane: Hello, and welcome back to “Learn English Now!

Jessica: In the last course, we talked about technology and robots. What’s our topic for
this lesson, Shane?

Shane: Good question, Jessica. Let’s spin the wheel and find out.

Jessica: Hey, look! Our topic for the week is psychology.

Shane: Ooh, psychology! Psychology. Ah, what should we talk about?

Jessica: Shane! Shh!

Shane: Uh-huh. Yeah, what?

Jessica: Shh! Seriously? Can you not hear yourself? You’re chewing your gum so loud!
That’s just, uhh! It’s so rude!

Shane: Well, uh, it bothers you?

Jessica: Yes! It’s rude. Can you please try to chew more quietly?

Shane: Alright, if it bothers you so much, I’ll...chew more quietly.

Jessica: Thank you, Shane. I actually really appreciate that.

Shane: Swallowed it. So, now we know what Jessica’s pet peeve is: people chewing
loudly. My pet peeve is people who drive slower than the speed limit.

Jessica: Now it’s your turn. Think about things that bother you and take 60 seconds to
write these things down and write down as many as you can. Are you ready?

Shane: Yes, because this psychology lesson will focus on your pet peeves...

Jessica: And ask people politely how to stop.

Shane: By the end of this unit, you’ll talk about your pet peeves and create polite ways
to ask people to stop.

Jessica: Sounds like fun. Speaking of asking people to stop, I heard Vincent and Alissa
had an interesting evening together last night.

Shane: Yes, they did. They had to discuss some of their pet peeves, too.

Jessica: Let’s find out what happened to them!
