A#2 MEDIA FASTING

1. List the top 5 things that you missed from engaging media. (5 points)

1 I couldn’t update about our to-do task in my groupmates, and my professors.

2 I missed the latest episode of my favorite drama from my favorite actor.

3 I missed out ordering in delivering apps like food panda and grab food.

4 I couldn’t follow the latest update of my order on Shopee and TikTok Shop.

5 I missed out some updates in my social media apps (e.g., my crush updates chariz)

2. What are the immediate effects of media fasting on your social life? Has it affected you at the
moment? (5 points)

For me, media fasting free us from the constant need for encouragement and comparison that social
media creates. We might focus on making true connections with other people in our local surroundings
by unplugging from social media. This results in better face-to-face contacts, more in-depth talks, and
stronger connections. It allows us more time for self-reflection and personal development. We can
engage in activities that encourage self-improvement like for example reading books or pursuing
hobbies without the distractions of scrolling through feeds or binge-watching TV. This not only
benefits one's own development but also gives intriguing discussion subjects while dealing with others.
Media fasting encourages people to seek out real-life experiences rather than living remotely via the
posts of others on social media. People are more likely to attend social gatherings, travel to new areas,
and engage in meaningful activities that improve their overall well-being. It has an instant positive
impact on one's social life by encouraging true interactions with people, personal growth and reflection,
and real-world experiences. Individuals can rediscover the delights of true human connection and
considerably boost their social life by taking a vacation from the digital world.

After taking a vacation from social media and regular digital activity, I felt less agitated and worried.
I've also experienced a sense of relaxation from the rigors of internet comparison and information
overload. I find that during a media fast, I am more productive since there are fewer digital distractions
and I have more concentrated time for work and obligations.
3. Weigh the pros and cons of media fasting based on your experiences. List 5 in each column. (10
