TEACHING PHILOSOPHY
TEACHING IS LIKE BAKING A CAKE, A
DIFFERENT FLAVOR FOR A CERTAIN
TASTE

Just as there are different flavors in a cake to suit

every taste, so too in teaching wherein we must tailor
our approach to nurture each child's unique potential
in the classroom.

Just like in baking, we need to be more accurate, and

careful when it comes to measuring and mixing the proper
ingredients just like in making a cake, am i right? Well, it
is actually the same as teaching our students, we need to
be extra careful with the knowledge that we share with
them, especially teachers, hold much influence on the
learning of the students, and what we impart to them is
vital to their understanding, their ideas and it will clearly
reflect how they would see the world, right? However,
learning is distinctive to each learner thus we must take
note of that. Just like in cakes, there are varieties of
flavors of cake, some may love mango cake and others
love strawberry cake. That is why, as a pastry chef and a
teacher, I need to make some treats that will surely
conform to my student's tastes and likes.

Starting out, I was a bit scared. I thought the kids on campus would be
really young, like in elementary school. But it turns out, they're actually
more advanced than kids in other places. They like to compete and
express themselves, but they're also really nice and caring. When it was
time to do my teaching demo, I felt a lot of pressure. These students talk
to teachers in a very direct way, which was new for me. Usually, I'm very
patient, but this was a different situation. Surprisingly, the students
taught me a lot about how to work with them. During my first demo, I
was happy to see that the students paid close attention. They were
curious about the things they found confusing. It made me realize how
important it is to be careful with what we say. The things we teach them
now will stay with them as they grow up.

As 21st-century learners, these students are really interested in what we

say. They want to understand everything. It's our responsibility to be
careful with the knowledge we share. It's like planting seeds in their
minds that will grow with them. I was thrilled to see that the students
were eager to learn. They asked questions and wanted to understand the
details. This showed me how much they value learning. It was a reminder
of how important our role as teachers is. We have the opportunity to
shape their future with what we teach them.
THE MENTOR

We're really lucky to have her as our mentor.

love for teaching are like mixing ingredients

and recognition show everyone how talented

in ourselves, like when a pastry chef creates a
masterpiece from scratch. We're really thankful for
her guidance. She's like the special ingredient that
makes our educational journey so meaningful and

THE CLASSROOM

The environment where learning

occurs is really important. It sets
the stage for how students feel and
behave in class. When I first
entered some classrooms, I felt a
bit uneasy. This was especially true
when there were new teachers

BEST
DEMO
One demo that really stood out for me was when I got to lead the class.
I was a bit nervous, but it turned out to be a great experience. In the
second week of this particular demo, I was asked to continue the
Assessment. Surprisingly, I found it pretty easy to explain musical
phrases, even though I hadn't taught it before. I was a bit shaky at first,
but I managed to help the students with their questions. I tried to
explain things in a way they could write down in their notebooks, but
some found it hard to remember the notes and symbols.

This demo was a big help to me. My first demo was about music notes
and rests, so I knew the topic well. I also took the time to memorize the
time values, which made it easier for me to teach the students.

Overall, this experience boosted my confidence in the classroom.

Being the facilitator for that demo showed me that I was capable of
effectively communicating complex concepts to the students. Despite
my initial nervousness, I realized that I could handle unexpected
situations and provide clear explanations. It was a turning point in my
teaching journey, and it made me more enthusiastic about future
demos. I learned the importance of preparation and staying calm
under pressure.

Reflecting on that demo, I am grateful for the opportunity

to lead the class. It taught me valuable lessons about
adaptability and effective communication. I now
approach demos with more confidence, knowing that I
have the capability to guide students through challenging
topics. This experience was a significant milestone in my
teaching career, and it continues to inspire me to strive
for excellence in every demo I conduct.

Teacher: As the
Cherry on Top of a
Cake

If I were to talk about all my experiences on campus, it

might bring tears to my eyes. There were moments
when I felt really stressed. I even reached a point
where I would open up to my sisters about how I was
feeling. Many times, I noticed some of my group mates
were taking advantage of my kindness. Because I
found it hard to say no, it put extra pressure on me.
But I've learned along the way that I need to be strong
despite all these challenges.

I usually turned to prayer and it really helped. It lightened the burden and the
heavy feeling that I used to carry. There were so many sleepless nights, especially
because I was the one in charge of printing our documents. That's what often
kept me up late – editing files before rushing to print them. Initially, during my
very first demo, I was too pressured and stressed. I was overthinking things too
much and wasn't really prepared, which showed in the results. However, over
time, I started to get the hang of it. I made a conscious effort to always give my
very best in every demo, and I'm thankful that I've seen progress. Even when I
feel down at times, I remind myself about my mom. I always tell myself, "Don't
forget what you promised to your mama before she passed away." I use that as
my strength to push through and complete my studies. With that in mind, I feel
motivated every day to grow and learn from my mistakes.

Therefore, being a teacher is indeed not an easy task, there

were so many standards set for them to follow as to how they
should teach and appear to their pupils, they should also be
prepared and knowledgeable enough with the topic they're
gonna discuss in the class and also flexible enough to adapt to
the changes in today's modern world. Moreover, teachers are
not perfect, just as much as we do, they are bound to create
mistakes and face challenges every single day for them to
become as great and become effective teachers in the future.
