5 REASONS WHY YOUR CONTENT IS NOT

ATTRACTING YOUR IDEAL CLIENT AND HOW

TO SOLVE THEM NOW

1
You don’t have a clear picture of who your ideal client is
“The man who chases two rabbits, catches neither.” – Confucius

Same works with content. When you create content for everyone, you’ll end up attracting no
one (or very few). And when your business caters to a specific chunk of the market, you’ll
have to create content specifically for them.

Solution:
Build your buyer (client) persona. Ask yourself the following questions:
• Who do you want to get as coaching clients? (Include demographic data if possible)
• What are their most pressing problems?
• How does your service help address these problems?
• What are their goals in life?
• What are their interests and passions?
• Where do they hang out online?

A buyer persona will give you insights on what topics to write about, what type of content to
produce, and where to publish it.

2
Your content is hard to find
What good is a great content if no one sees it? Sometimes it is a problem of publishing in the
wrong places like a platform your ideal clients rarely use. While other times, the content isn’t
promoted and distributed enough.

Solutions:
• Optimize your content for search by identifying keywords and topics that your ideal
clients search for and incorporate them into your copy.
• Maximize your audience reach by publishing content in different platforms: blog, social
media, email, video platforms, etc.
3
Your content only comes in one format
People consume content differently. Limiting your content to only one type (e.g. text-based
copy) also limits your opportunity to connect with other people from your niche.

Solution:
Offer variety in your content by testing out other content types such as:
• Charts or graphs
• Infographics
• Videos (e.g. instructional how-to’s, screencasts)
• Audio content (e.g. podcast, interview recordings)
• Q&As
• eBooks
• Slides
• Guest posts

4
Content simply does not resonate well with your audience
Let’s face it. There are pieces of content that you’ll readily click and consume while there are
others you would just completely ignore. Content that your ideal clients don’t find relevant,
valuable, interesting, and compelling enough is something they’ll skip to make time for more
appealing ones.

Solution:
• Create content based on your buyer persona. Dive deep into their concerns. Offer
solutions. Make references to things that they’re passionate about.
• Avoid publishing content that purely promotes you and what you offer. Always ask
yourself: “What’s in it for my ideal clients?” “Why should they care?”

5
You haven’t built enough trust and credibility with your audience
Trust is a huge factor in drawing the right audience to your brand. Online audiences consume
more content from people they know and trust.

Solution:
Build a backlinking strategy. A backlink is when another website mentions your content in a
post and directs its visitors to a link to your website. Through backlinks, you can leverage on
the massive audiences of other sites to build your own. Here’s a compilation of backlinking
strategies by Neil Patel.
