After an unfortunate and painful experience in my childhood, nowadays I always
tell myself... how true is that saying "Don't leave for later what you should do now".
As a child I did not have the help and camaraderie of my friends from school and
this unfortunately happened because I did not finish what I had to finish... When I
was 7 years old, I went to the bathroom and it can be said that due to laziness and
speed I did not finish. buttoning my skirt, which then when I entered my classroom I
had to present an exhibition of the Plants and their parts, I remember it if it was
yesterday, in the middle of the exhibition I felt that the skirt was falling off and
when I realized it, it was in the floor.

recounting an embarrassing childhood moment, use that moment to explore issues

of insecurity, peer pressure or teacher/student relationships.

As you work, be selective in the information you choose to include. You can use a
single event or a limited number of events but include episodes that illustrate more
significant themes. You will include details and narrative elements to engage your
reader’s interest and bring the moment to life. Remember that you are writing the
story of a significant moment in your life told from a mature, reflective standpoint.

Your reader must be able to picture the scene. However, it is equally important to
know why you picked this particular moment at this particular time in your life.
Therefore, consider these questions when approaching a topic for your narrative:

 Why does this moment continue to be important to you?

 What do you understand now that you did not then?
 How can you apply this new understanding to your life today?

Your essay should be written in a formal writing voice and should have at least five
paragraphs (introduction, three body paragraphs, and a conclusion):

 Introduction. Begin with a hook, something that catches your readers’ attention.
A question or an unexpected fact would do the trick. Then introduce the topic by
briefly establishing the background of the story. Include who, what, where,
when, and why. Your thesis statement will express your attitude toward the
event (why the event was important or memorable). A one-sentence thesis

statement should appear in the introduction of your essay, and the thesis
statement usually appears as the last sentence of the introduction.

 Each body paragraph should begin with a topic sentence that clearly and
specifically identifies the paragraph’s main point, and you should remain focused
on developing only this main point in the rest of the paragraph.

 Conclusion:
 Restate the thesis statement.
 Reiterate key points of your topics.
 Reflection.

Provide a sense of awakening, impart your takeaway message, a lesson, or a

reflection (a discovery of meaning in life) to your reader.

On the day that your narrative essay is due (week 10), you will submit the outline
and the rough draft along with the final copy of your essay.
