NASHVILLE PR meet produces 107 PR’s!

The NASHVILLE PR 3200 meet is the meet that produced the back-to-back HOKA Postal
National Champion, Brentwood (TN) Boys’ XC Club teams in 2016 & 2017 and this meet
has continued the long tradition of cross country postseason 3200m time trial or races.

The Brentwood Boys’ XC club team’s 2016 five-runner average of 9:18 still stands as the
HOKA Postal Nationals All-Time team record, after 10 years of the HOKA event. Five
runners need to run a 3200m at the same meet to qualify for the national championship team
competition.

In the Fall of 2014, HOKA was inspired to revive the 5x2M Postal Nationals event, after the
Brentwood (TN) Boys’ club team broke the long-standing 5x2M national record with a
9:05.22 five-runner average the previous Spring. This broke a mark that had been set 39
years earlier, in 1975, by the legendary Hammonds (Indiana) HS team.

Another completely different Brentwood Boys’ club team, recorded a 9:06 five-runner
average several years later. Both the 9:05 (2014) and 9:06 (2017) five-runner averages were
set long before the advent of today’s carbon-fiber plate super-shoes, that are widely regarded as
cutting a minimum of 10 seconds off a 3200m time.

The 12th Annual NASHVILLE PR 3200 meet held @ Brentwood Academy this past Saturday,
continued the tradition of PR-setting. The meet saw 72% of all entered runners combine to
produce an incredible 107 new personal records (PR’s).

On Saturday, MBA Track Club’s Samuel Trumble (9:12) and Station Camp Track Club’s
Brynn Balturshot (11:08) were the overall winners. The top middle school miler was Abigail
Wallace with a fantastic time of 5:18.

Tennessee Milesplit has uploaded video coverage of each race from Saturday, and here is a link to

After 92 milesplit-official PR’s in 2022, followed by 107 PR’s in 2023, this Nashville
running staple, will look to set the bar even higher in 2024.
