Wataru Bushi School

Benefit: +1 Agility

Skills: Athletics, Hunting, Intimidation, Jiujutsu, Kenjutsu, Stealth (Ambush), any one Bugei skill.

Honor: 2.5

Outfit: Light Armor, Sturdy Clothing, Daisho, any one weapon, Traveling Pack, 3 koku

Rank 1: The Patient Hunter

The first lesson the Wataru bushi learns is that fury must not be allowed to run wild, but controlled and
harnessed. Let the enemy blunder into the trap, and then destroy him utterly. When you are in the
Defense or Full Defense stance and an opponent makes a melee attack targeting you, after the attack
resolves you may make a Stealth (Ambush) / Agility roll, contested by your opponent's Investigation
(Notice) / Perception. If you succeed, on your next turn you may attack your opponent with a number of
free raises equal to your school rank. You may only use this against one opponent each round.

Rank 2: The Swift Predator

Like the crocodile, the Wataru bushi appears cumbersome, but is deceptively fast. He is not slowed nor
hindered by his equipment, least of all when he strikes. You may ignore all TN penalties for wearing light
armor. Your movement is not effected by terrain penalties caused by water (beaches, marshes, hip-deep
water, etc.)

Rank 3: Blood In The Water

Once he has his prey, the Wataru bushi does not stop until they are dead. You may make melee attacks
as a Simple Action instead of a Complex Action.

Rank 4: Beware The Jaws

To approach a crocodile head on is a dangerous and foolish feat, for all too often the aggressor
underestimates the suddenness with which it may strike. When an opponent makes a melee attack
targeting you, after the attack resolves you may immediately take a Free Action to make one melee
attack against that opponent as if in the Full Attack Stance. This causes you to immediately assume the
Full Attack Stance. This Technique may be used once per encounter, and you may use this technique
after using The Patient Hunter.

Rank 5: Death Spiral

The Wataru bushi is a patient killer, but when it is time to strike, he does so without remorse, without
pity, without restraint. He shreds his enemy's body, until there is nothing left but a mangled corpse. Once
per encounter after you roll damage for an attack, you may spend a Void Point as a Free Action to
activate this Technique. You may reroll as many damage dice as you wish, replacing the old rolls with the
new ones, and choose your kept dice from the updated pool of rolled dice.
