HIFIS Server Configuration

The Roles and Features for services on Windows Server

The configuration of any HIFIS installation begins with the server. This server does not need to access
the greater World Wide Web but it does need access to the National Homelessness Information System
(NHIS). The following is a list of Server Roles, Features, and the NHIS link.

Server Roles and Features

To enable Server Roles and Features you will need to open the Server Manager and then click on
Manage then Add Roles and Features. This will bring up a utility to configure these settings. Click
through until you get to the Server Roles and then Features.

Whitelist NHIS Connection

HIFIS itself does not rely on an internet connection to function. However, it does need the ability to
connect to NHIS for registration and data export. This is facilitated by whitelisting the following URL on
you server https://webservices.hifis.ca/NHIS.svc
