The role of the project manager is two-fold when performing


integration on the project:

• Working with the project sponsors to understand the strategic


objectives to ensure the alignment of the project objectives and
results with those of the portfolio, programme, and business areas.
• Guiding the team to work together to focus on what is really

integration of processes, knowledge, and people.

• A Project should not start without a PC.
• A PC is created by the project initiator but issued and signed
by the project sponsor.
• A PC formerly recognizes the existence of the project.
• A PC gives the PM authority to spend money and commit
corporate resources
• A PC provides high-level requirements for the project.
• A PC aids in high level project definition.

– Identifying changes that need to occur


– Approving or reject requested changes
– Ensuring only approved changes are implemented
– Controlling and updating the scope, cost, budget, schedule, and quality

– Documenting the impact of the changes and validating defect repair

Close Project or Phase is the process of finalizing all activities
across all of the Project Management Process Groups to formally
complete a project or phase.
