A Detailed Lesson Plan in Science for Grade 3

I. OBJECTIVE :
At the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to :

a. Identify different animals and their habitats.


b.Create a simple poem or story about an animal and its habitat.
c.Demonstrate animal movements through a physical activity.

II. SUBJECT MATTER :


Topic : Some Animals and their Habitats (Integrated with Language Arts and Physical
Activity)
Materials :
● Powerpoint Presentation
● Youtube Video (For Prayer)
● Pictures or illustrations of different animals and their habitats
● Chart paper or whiteboard
● Markers or crayons
● Animal books or resources
● Open space for physical activity

“Good Morning!, My dear pupils”

“Good Morning!, Ma’am”


“My Name is Teacher Christal, You can call me
teacher tal.”

“So, before we start our lesson for today. Can you all
stand and let us pray first?”
(ALL THE STUDENTS STOOD UP)

“Now, are you ready to listen to me, my dear students?

“Yes, Teacher Tal”

“That's good to hear, now let's start our discussion for


today. Our lesson is all about Some Animals and their
Habitats”

A.ENGAGE

“My dear pupils, do you know any animals and where


they live?”
“Yes ,Teacher”

“That’s good to hear.So, I prepared a simple game for


all of you my dear pupils and all you have to do is to
paste the pictures of animals to their habitats. The
students that participate in this game will receive a
gift from teacher tal. I have 10 pictures of animals
here , so I need 10 students to participate in this
game. Students who want to join can raise their hand,
so who wants to join the game my dear student.?”
(Teacher Tal will provide a instructional material
about the game)

“Yes. Nelma,Jasmine,Ara, Michal,Meca,Melissa,


Arlan, Aileen,Jenny and lastly Vivien (samples name),
Come in front my dear student and pick the animals
you want to paste ”

(The students paste the picture of animals


they pick on the correct picture of the
habitat.)

“Thank you my dear students, all of your answers are


correct. Now I will give you a simple gift. Students,
can you give your classmates 5 claps?”

“Yes, Teacher (The students give a 5 claps)”

“Now, Let's start our proper discussion.”

(Teacher Tal will present a powerpoint)

“Today, let's embark on a fun adventure to explore


where some of our favorite animals live and the cozy
homes Or Habitats they've created for themselves.

I. The Forest Dwellers:


A. Bears:

Have you ever seen a Bear in real life, my dear


students?
“No, Teacher.”

- Talk about how bears make their homes in caves,


where they snuggle up for long winter naps.

B. Squirrels:
- Share the excitement of tree-dwelling squirrels who
build nests called dreys in branches.

Do you understand my dear students?

“ Yes, Teacher.”

“Very good, Next we have..”

II. The Underwater Pals:

A. Fish:
- Dive into the colorful world of fish and how they zip
and zoom in rivers, lakes, and oceans.

B. Turtles:
- Explore the magic of turtles and their cozy homes
inside hard shells, perfect for hiding and resting.
III. Up in the Sky:

A. Birds:
- Soar with birds and discover how they build nests in
trees, using twigs, leaves, and even bits of string.

B. Butterflies:
- Marvel at butterflies and how they flutter from flower
to flower, making their homes in gardens.

IV. On the Farm:


A. Cows:
- Giggle about cows living on farms, munching on
grass and finding shade under big, leafy trees.
(The students are listening)
B. Chickens:
- Cluck along with chickens in their cozy coops, where
they lay eggs and play with their fluffy chicks.”

B. EXPLORE

“Now, my dear pupils,I have printed animals and their


habitats here. you will have an activity, in this activity
you need to choose an animal and its habitat that you
find interesting and gather information about the
animal’s characteristics and its habitat. “

“If you have any questions you can come to me and I


will help you. Do you understand my dear students.?

“Yes, Teacher.”

C. EXPLAIN

“Are you done.?

“Yes, Teacher.”

“Now, One by One come in front to share the animals


and habitats that you choose during your activity”

(One by one the students came in front of


the class to share their chosen animals and
habitats that they interesting.)
“So all of your works are amazing, so give yourself a 5
claps.”

( The students clap their hands)

D. ELABORATE

“My dear students. I will explain to you the unique


movement of animals that can help them to survive in
their habitats. Are you ready to listen my dear
students? Because after this I will show you pictures
of different animals and we will imitate their unique
movement.”

“Yes, Teacher.”

(The students are listening)

(The teacher discuss the movement of the different


animals and they imitate it)

E. EVALUATE

(The teacher engages the students in a discussion


about the animals and their habitats, focusing on the
accuracy of the information presented. And
Encourage questions and further exploration of the
animals and habitats discussed.)

(While the students are listening to what the


teacher said to them.)
