Completing Application for

NCCAOM Certification
Online
Further your profession by becoming an NCCAOM Board-Certified
Acupuncturist™. Through our credentialing programs, acupuncturists and
practitioners of eastern medicine can establish themselves as qualified
professionals in the industry, open their own practice and connect to
patients in their area.
Educational Eligibility Requirements for NCCAOM Certification:
It is important to understand that the eligibility for NCCAOM certification is
determined by Eligibility Route:
Route 1 - Formal Education: United States Applicant
Route 2 – Formal Education: International Applicant
Route 4 – Combination of Formal Education & Apprenticeship Applicant

Submitting an Online Application


Step 1. Create a new account at cert.nccaom.org. Please note: if you
applied with the NCCAOM in the past or took any NCCAOM exams, you
already have an online account. If you do not remember your login
credentials, please contact info@thenccaom.org . Creation of a Duplicate
account will cause delays in locating your certification record.
Step 2. Once Logged into your Online Portal, click “Apply for New
Certification” orange button at the top of your profile window.

Step 3. Click on NCCAOM Code of Ethics Link to read and, once familiar with
the document, check the box on the left-hand side and click “Next” .

Step 5. Read the general overview of the route, check the checkbox for the
NCCAOM Code of Ethics and click “Next”
Step 4. On the next screen, select certification program you are applying for and
click “Next”.

1. NCCAOM Certification in Acupuncture:


a) Application fee for Acupuncture Certification Application is $500
b) Acupuncture Certification requires applicant to pass the following exams:
• Foundations of Oriental Medicine Exam
• Acupuncture with Point Location Exam
• Biomedicine Exam

2. NCCAOM Certification in Oriental Medicine:


a) Application fee for Oriental Medicine Certification Application $595
b) Oriental Medicine Certification requires applicant to pass the following exams:
• Foundations of Oriental Medicine Exam
• Acupuncture with Point Location Exam
• Biomedicine Exam
• Chinese Herbology Exam

3. NCCAOM Certification in Chinese Herbology


a) Application fee for Chinese Herbology Certification Application is $500
b) Chinese Herbology Certification requires applicant to pass the following exams:
• Foundations of Oriental Medicine Exam
• Biomedicine Exam
• Chinese Herbology Exam
Step 5. On the next screen, select education eligibility route and click “Next”.
Route 1 - Formal Education: United States Applicant

Route 2 – Formal Education: International Applicant

Step 6. Informational screen, no action required. Click “Next”.


Step 7. On this screen, please report your education that matches the
requirements of chosen eligibility route. To add an educational record, click
“Add degree” orange button.

On the Degree screen enter your program information and click “Next”.
Once Degree is submitted, click “Next” or, if you have another degree to
report, click “Add Degree” orange button to repeat the process. Click
“Next to Proceed when done reporting your education.

Step 8. Now you can report your professional license(s). Click “Add
Licenses” to do so.
Be prepared to enter license information and upload a copy of the license.
Once done, click “Next”. To report more professional licenses, click “Add
Licenses”.

Step 9. In this step you will answer Professional Ethics questions. If you
select answer “Yes” to any of these questions, you will be required to
provide a description of the issue as well as upload any supporting
documentation. If none of this applies to you, simply select “No”.
Click “Next”.

Step 10. In this step you will answer Fitness to Practice questions. If you
select answer “Yes” to any of these questions, you will be required to
provide a description of the issue as well as upload any supporting
documentation. If none of this applies to you, simply select “No”.
Click “Next”.
Step 11. In this step you will select the language (English, Chinese, Korean) for
your exams and indicate weather you require any accommodations under the
Americans with Disabilities Act. If you select answer “Yes” to ADA
accommodations question, you will be required to select accommodations from
the dropdown list and upload any supporting documentation. If none of this
applies to you, simply select “No”.
Click “Next”.
Step 12. This is the Attestation page of your reinstatement application. Please
read it through and provide electronic signature. First name and the last name in
your signature must match the ones on your Profile. Click “Next” once
completed.
Step 13. Informational Screen. Please verify all information you have
submitted and click “Submit Application”.
Step 14. Last Step – application fee payment. Please note: the total
amount due and the payment method. Only American Express, Visa and
Master Card are accepted.
Choose your payment method and click “Submit”.
System will redirect you to a secure PayPal portal for CC information. Click
“Pay Now” after you enter all required Credit Card information. Do not
navigate from the PayPal page until your transaction has been completed.
This is a confirmation screen indicating that your application has been submitted
and payment processed successfully.

This Payment receipt will also be emailed to the email address on your account
and recorded on your profile.

You can print your receipt or return to your Online Portal.

When You return to your Online Portal, you will see:

• Now you have a Certification Application

• You can click “Review” link to track the status of the application at any
time during your certification process.
Once all application requirements have been satisfied, your certification
application will be approved and NCCAOM certification processed.

3. Request a final graduation transcript to be submitted directly from


school.

4. Request a verification of Clean Needle Technique (CNT) course to be


submitted directly from CCAHM.

5. Pass all exams required for certification chosen.
