Wiring Accessories
• Fuse – a safety device or wire whose purpose is to isolate
the circuit in the even of any overload or fault. Lead-tin
alloy or Copper are used as fuse material

• Cables – It consists of a conductor made of cu or al

surrounded by insulation and a sheath. Such as Vulcanized
Indian Rubber (VIR), PVC, TRS &Weather Proof Cables

• Lamp holder
• Switches – DPIC (Double Pole Iron Clad Switch)
• Socket outlets
• Ceiling roses
• Plugs
• Distribution boards
FUSE
SWITCHES: It is used to make or
break the electric connection

Domestic Wiring
While planning for a domestic electrical wiring, the following
points are to be kept in mind
• Select the type of wiring (depends on nature of load, cost,
safety, appearance and life of the wiring.
• The location of fan, lighting and heating points are to be
finalized.
• All runs of wirings, exact position of switch boxes and out
lets are to be marked.
• A layout of power distribution has to be prepared.
Types of Wiring
• Cleat wiring
• Wooden casing –capping wiring
• Tough Rubber Sheath (TRS)
• Conduit wiring
✓Stair case wiring
✓Fluorescent tube wiring

Methods / Types

Surface / Conduit Concealed

Conduit Wiring Concealed Conduit
Advantages • Safe
• Better appearance
Surface Conduit • No risk of fire
• Easy Installation • No risk of damage of cable
• Easy to detect fault insulation
• Customizable for future use • Safe from humidity, smoke,
(Accessibility) steam, etc.
• No risk of shock
Disadvantages • Long lasting (Life Span)

• Poor Look (Appearance)

• Expensive • Expensive (Cost)
• Risk of fire (Safety) • Installation is not easy
• Unsafe from humidity, smoke, • Not easily customizable
steam, etc. (Durability) for future use
• Risk of shock • Hard to detect faults
