A few weeks ago, my mother woke me up early on Friday
morning so I could have breakfast outside with my family. She
said the weather was nice and she had been making breakfast
since dawn. I was cranky and sleep-deprived, as I was planning
to sleep in. I was in an awful mood during breakfast, therefore
causing everyone else to be cranky as well. Later that day, we
were at a family event, and I told my cousin what had
happened that morning, forgetting that her father had passed
away exactly a year before. She grew mad at me and went on
telling me that I should appreciate every second I get to spend
with my family. She added that she would do anything to be
able to have breakfast with her family only one more time.
Tears filled her eyes as she spoke to me. She envied me: denying
the fact that I even had to complain. Her reaction gave me a
perspective that I did not know I really needed. I hadn't realized
how ungrateful I had been until that very moment. You never
realize how important something is until you lose it. You get so
used to these blessings that you might not realize how many
others wish they had what you have. Many of us forget what a
blessing is to have parents who take care of us. Parents who
say “no” to protect us because they know more. Parents who
feed you us nurture us until we lose this blessing. What you do
not realize is how many people wish they could have their
parents one more time. Persons who wish they could have “no”
as an answer one more time. We fail to appreciate the most
important people in our lives. You might say: I do appreciate my
parents and loved ones, but let me ask you one thing. When was
the last time you told your mom you loved her? Or told your
dad you loved him? They know you do love them, but just like
you, they need to be told that they are loved and appreciated
and that their hard work isn't taken for granted.

With all the recent events, we had the pleasure of interviewing our
own KFUPM Schools student, Tahani Ahmed. When she was asked
about how she felt about making it to the international science fair
stage, Tahani expressed her immense honor and happiness, stating,
"I feel really, really honored and happy to have been given this
opportunity to represent my country in an international science fair."
Regarding our medalist, Leen Almulhim, she started defining
her journey with very much fulfillment, expounding first how
she got a qualification to engage in Regeneron ISEF 2022, in
which she unluckily faced some hindrances that deterred her
from flying overseas to enroll in attendance; thus, she got to
