ACTIVITY

Scenario 1: The Restaurant

You are a manager of a restaurant. It was Saturday evening and the restaurant is full of customers.
There are even another customers who are waiting to get seated. One of your staff, Raphael, called your
attention that Bea (another staff) is taking too long talking to a customer every time she serves them.
Because of this, other employees take time to talk, to their customers as well as so they’ll serve less
people. This caused a delay in the service. When you are about to call the attention of Bea regarding the
matter, you’ve noticed that her customer is one of your VIP customers.

QUESTION 1: How will you manage the conflict in this situation?

As a manager , I must first hear and comprehend my employees ' perspectives . I 'll draw Bea 's attention
to the fact that how much time she spends with one of our VIP customers can affect how long it takes to
serve the meal to other customers . And I 'll account for Bea entertaining one of the VIP guests because
it 's important to entertain customers to provide value and establish relationships so that they continue
to patronize our restaurant . If one of our VIPs requests Bea , we will take it into consideration because
we value our customers .

QUESTION 2: How will you build an effective team after this incident?

Effective teamwork involves good problem-solving skills, decision making, communication and
interpersonal skills thus encouraging collaboration with the team. Therefore, In my opinion, I will build
an effective team after this incident wherein I will take full responsibility of what happened and I will set
up a small party for the payment for their hard work during the sald event. Teamwork is a must in a
workplace because it creates good quality in that when one team member falls behind, there's another
to pick up the pieces of service and this brings good ambience to the workplace.
