THE SYNODAL EXPERIENCE

The conduct of the synodal consultation among the members of the different
organizations, ministries, different barangays falling in the jurisdiction of the parish was
spearheaded by our Rector and Parish Priest Fr. Lito Villegas. A synodal team was
formed and the members were oriented on the process of consultation. A decision was
reached among the members to use the form D of the questioners focusing on the
“Salamat” and “Sana”.
The participants in the audiam sessions were happy because they were given
the opportunity to share their personal experiences and views connected with their faith-
life and as a part of the parish life. As we go to the proper in the community, we
considered it a chance to deliver to them the goals of the synod and their important
participation/role in strengthening the relationship of the church and the people.
Through the synodal consultation, the people in the community were able to
express their views and thoughts concerning the church, the people around them, the
society at large and the Church. They were able to recognize particularly the church
volunteers the need to do humbler and persevering in their listening to the various
people they interviewed in order to understand better the needs of others. They exerted
efforts in their approach of talking to the people so that in them, the image of Christ is
seen by the respondents.
There were some participants who generously gave their responses to the
questions. Some were shared their suggestions which they believe on important to be
heard especially about the activities/programs that can be implemented that will make
better the relationship of the Church to the people and among themselves.
There were sharing their comments and criticizing regarding the inappropriate
manner of the church goers like wearing of immodest dresses, the attitude of church
volunteers in members of organizations and many others.
Through the process of consultation, we were able to learn and realize that there
is much need to further the relationship of the church people (priests and collaborators)
and the faithful in order to deeper their knowledge of the faith and their participation in
the liturgy.
We were able to know that people are expecting the resumption of the activities
they used to participate in the activities of the youth.
We learned also that the people in the community is open to dialogue and be
heard also. We believe that this synodal consultation will bring a positive effect in the
parish life and open the way to a deeper relationship between the church and the
community.
