Duck Cover hold

This position protects you


from falling but allows you to
still move if necessary.
This position is where you
protect your head and neck.
Don't just cover your head
and neck but your entire
body if possible.
This position is where you
hold onto the leg of the table
or chair that you are hiding
under.
Move away from buildings,
utility wires, sink holes, fuel
and gas lines
Go to an open area away from
trees, telephone poles and
buildings .
Move away from windows and
outside walls .
Do not use elevators
If you are in a car, stop the car
and stay inside until the
earthquake stops.

Make sure you have a fire


extinguisher, first aid kit,
battery powered radio, extra
flashlight and extra batteries.
Learn how to use the first aid
kit
Always participate during
earthquake drill
Secure the furniture so it
doesn’t fall.
Talk to your family where to
meet after the earthquake.
Check your house and have it
repaired if necessary.
Store harmful materials away
and share necessities in a safe
container.

Check your body for injuries


before anyone else.
Incase of probable injuries,
Bleeding = put direct pressure
Not breathing = perform CPR
Don't move seriously injured
people
~ seek medical assistance for
any injuries

Ex : fire, gas leaks, spills, etc.
Stay alert for aftershocks.
Better to be aware and be
prepared in case.

Aftershocks can continue for
weeks, months, and even years!
Look for structural damage.
Don't go in your house unless
checked by authorities.
Watch out for fallen power
lines or broken gas lines
(These are difficult to see , yet
very dangerous)
Be aware of the behavior of
animals .
