3. Strictly follow the sequence of the project together with its marking tool.
4. Provide for adequate spacing between paragraphs.
5. Use examples to support illustrated points.
6. Sources must be used to complete this project. Used sources must be

8. Stick to the instructions above.

SPECIFIC INSTRUCTIONS

• You will be expected to study extensively for collection of data being aided
by the questions in each section.
• To that effect, you will conduct thorough investigation of content related to
the topic of Social and Environmental Responsibility (SER).
• For data collection, you will read literature related to content in each
section. Additionally, you will be expected to interview your classmates.
More details on how the interviews will be conducted are given on the part
dealing with interviews.
• Your evidence will be in the form of an essay with sub-headings relating to
the criteria outlined in each section below.
• For proper presentation of your answers, use the sequence of sections in
each part of your work.
• Acknowledge used sources. Plagiarism is a criminal offence.
• Avoid grammatical mistakes, as they have a potential to obscure the
intended meaning.
• Proofread your work before submission.
• You may work in groups to collect and interpret the data; however, each
learner will be credited for his/her individual attempt to complete the project.
No marks will be shared by groups. In essence, each learner must
complete his/ ger work, independently.
• Do not write a sentence if you don’t understand its meaning.
• The bullets are intended to guide how answers are expected to be given.

How to complete the Project?

For the completion of this Project, learners must read material from various sources
in order to compare how the problematic issues, terms and concepts are unpacked,
so that correct answers are given to the questions given below. Therefore, learners
must not simply answer the questions, as if they are examination type of questions.
The whole idea is for learners to develop a deeper understanding of the problematic
issue that the project deals with.

Each subsection is preceded by some instructions that need to be followed so that

learners can confine their answers to what is required.

2. Implications of the analysis

Section 4.4 provides the spread of questions and marks to be as follows:

Weighting Cognitive level Bloom’s taxonomy examples

30% lower order Levels 1 & 2 What? Why? Who? List
40% middle order Levels 3 & 4 Discuss, explain, describe
30% higher order Levels 5 & 6 Evaluate, synthesize, critically
evaluate, examine

2.2 The mark allocation versus the expected and motivation

Provisions of CAPS Current Marks

Low order: 30% = 27 marks 30 (3 marks more)

Middle order: 40% = 36 marks 32 (4 marks less)
Higher order: 30% = 27 marks 28 (1 Marks more)

Ostensibly, there are more lower order cognitive level questions, which seems to favour learners operating at that
level. On the other hand, mid order questions seem to have been compromised, in favour of both low and higher
order cognitive level questions.

A project is, by design and structure, a higher order cognitive demanding activity. However, in this Project, learners
operating at the lower cognitive level have been given more opportunities to attempt the task.
