COMPASS SEMESTER REPORTS - A GUIDE 2022

Accessing the Reports to enter semester results


You will need to access the semester reports:
For Year 7, 8, 9 and 10: enter Vic Curriculum levels, your comments should be automatically added
from your CAT Learning task comment.
For VCE: enter outcome results, enter assessment task results (including Semester exam) and overall
semester result, enter a comment (1500 character Max).
For VCAL: enter outcome results, enter a comment (1500 character Max).

 To access the semester reports, click on the pen icon


(Teaching and Learning) and select semester reports.

 Select the required reporting cycle by clicking on the Enter Results Icon on the right.

 Your staff code should already be selected otherwise click on the arrow to select your staff code and then click
on the required class.

 The grid will appear and you will need to complete ALL sections (I’ve made columns wider so you can see the
headings more easily here)
o 7 to 10 - enter Vic Curriculum levels. Double click in the general comment box (VCE and VCAL).
DO NOT LEAVE BLANKS. Any student not receiving a report for your subject should:
a. Be confirmed through consultation with the Team Leader/ Coordinator
b. For Year 11 and 12 receive an (Excluded) (yes, include the brackets!) result for ALL
assessment areas including the comment.
c. Year 7 to 10 receive an (Excluded) for Vic Curriculum levels and be withdraw from any
CATs. If not able to be withdrawn, an appropriate comment in the CAT.

Entering comments
Be mindful of the character limits.
The font has a default setting and will automatically change copied data.
Student given name should be the name as it appears in CASES/ Compass – not abbreviated.

If the name in common usage is different to the legal name, the first occurrence of the name should be
the CASES name followed by the variant in brackets. Thereafter the variant can be used.

o VCE - enter outcome results, overall semester result (S/N) and a general comment.
You MUST enter the Semester result – it is NOT auto calculated.

o VCAL - enter outcome results and general Comment.
DO NOT LEAVE BLANKS

A few reminders:

 Select (Excluded) in all assessment areas (comment included) if a vic curric level was not taught or
completed by a student AND the student is not to receive a subject report
 Use excluded in an assessment area only if no assessment is given for the assessment item but a report is
still to be issued – a comment should reflect this.
 Reports autosave
 Remember that in the in the drop down for entering vic curric levels there are several DNP (did not
participate) options. These relate to the following and should only be used in consultation with Team
leaders/ Coordinators:
DNP-EX Exemption from a Curriculum Area – the student participated in a targeted intervention program
instead of a curriculum area or was on an approved extended absence during the reporting period, and has a
personalised learning plan in place.
DNP-LE Late enrolment – the student was enrolled in the school towards or at the end of the reporting
period.
DNP-LP Low participation – the student has low levels of school participation and is not participating in an
approved re-engagement program.
DNP-SI Serious illness – the student was seriously ill during the reporting period.
DNP-UN Unapproved extended family holiday – the student was on an unapproved extended family
holiday during the reporting period.
