The Problem and It’s Background

Introduction

Nowadays, money plays a big role in every individual’s life. This is

something that we need to buy the daily necessities that we use in our daily

life. Nowadays almost everything has increased in price so we need a

shopping plan and how to spend money properly.Budgeting money in buying

our necessities has a big help to save money and spent it for important things.

According to Terry(2018) “A budget is an estimate of future needs

arranged according to an orderly basis, covering some or all the activities of

an enterprise for a definite period of time. Budgeting helps individuals to plan

what they need to buy or the things that is exact to their budget allowance for

transportation, food, and other miscellaneous expenses.

In the Philippines, the majority of students receive daily allowances that

vary from 41 to 50 pesos. Students are content with their daily school

allowances as a result. Due to satisfying financial obligations while having

less debts and liabilities, the students’ financial lives appear to be calm.

Allowance is the money that are given within time period (weekly,

monthly, yearly) parents or the guardian for educational needs (Vhalery,et al

2018).Having an allowance is important in every students life because this is

what they spend for their school expenses such as transportation, food, and

other miscellaneous expenses.

 In the days, that there is a lot of changes many people deciding to

budget their money to support their needs than wants. Budgeting money

helps them to be responsible in spending it and tends to them to save money

for other purposes. Especially in students, budgeting their allowances is a

good way to teach them how to value and spend money in a right way that

helps them to be a responsible person.

This study will address what the researcher want to study and why it is

important to conduct. In this study the researchers wants to determine what is

the weekly budgeting and how the students manage their allowance for their

personal expenses like food, transportation,wants,and other miscellaneous

expenses. This study will benefit the administrator,teacher,future researcher

and especially the students in which they can develop their budgeting and

how to manage properly a money.

The graph above shows the conceptual framework of the study.It

includes the Input, Process, and Output which presents the framework and

the flow on how the study will be conducted.The first box is the input section

that contains the students profile of Grade 10 students in Dagatan, Integrated,

National Highschool and what are the expenses they budget in their weekly

allowances.

The second box Is the process that contains the information on how

the researcher will gather and analyze data from Grade 10 students in their

weekly budgeting and how they manage their weekly allowance.It includes

survey questionnaire and statistical treatment in analyzing data.

The third box Is the output of the study.It is the outcome of the study

that the researcher will be conducted.This output will be help the researcher

to have a good study and show the result of budgeting allowance or money.

Statement of the Problem:

In this study the researchers want to determine what is the

weekly budgeting and how grade 10 students manage their allowance

1.3 Grade level

2.What are the things that the students consider for their weekly budget?

3.What are the allowance management practices that the students do to

manage their weekly allowance?

4.Is there a significant relationship between allowance and allowance

management practices among Grade 10 students?

5..Based on the results, what equipment can be developed to cultivate the

knowledge of Grade 10 students in budgeting and managing their allowances.

Significance of the Study

This study aimed to provide valuable information on how the role of

budget can affect their allowance in terms of education.

For the school administrators. This study may provide them with

insights about budgeting and managing their allowances of

students.Conducting surveys may help the researchers to provide ideas that

can help to pursue the goals of the research.

For the Students. Budgeting may help them to learn how to use and

save their allowances for future plans. It may improve their skills and

knowledge about budgeting.

For the future researchers. The result of this research may be used

as a basis for further studies and can be used as a literature.

Scope and Delimitation

The focus of this study is to identify the budgeting and allowance

management of the Grade 10 students at Dagatan, Integrated, National

Highschool.The data collected through the use of survey questionnaire with

the consent to the respondents. The researcher will use a convenience

sampling because the respondents is within the Dagatan, Integrated, National

Highschool and this research will only focus on the curre5academic year

2023-2024.The study will be limited only to the weekly budgeting and

allowance management of Grade 10 students.The researcher will evaluate

the things or expenses that the students use their allowances and how they

manage it.

Definition of terms

The study that will conduct includes words which will need proper

addressing of definition and common use. Through this, common

understanding with the readers is established. The words chosen by the

researchers are as follows:

Budgeting- It refers to the financial plan and list of all planed expenses and

revenues made by the students in response to their daily and monthly

expenses.

Allowance – it refers to the money given to the students that shall be used for

their daily needs and expense, it is given by their parents and guardians.
