A Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) is a type of local area network that uses
wireless communication to connect devices within a limited geographical area, such as
a home, office, or campus. WLANs use radio waves or infrared signals to transmit and
receive data wirelessly, eliminating the need for physical cables.
- Analog Signals: Continuous signals that vary smoothly and can take any value within
a given range.
- Digital Signals: Discrete signals that represent information in binary form (0s and 1s).
Transmission media are the physical pathways through which data is transmitted. Some
types include:
Network transport standards define how data is transmitted across networks. Common
transport layer protocols include:
- 5G Technology: The rollout and adoption of 5G networks for faster and more reliable
wireless communication.
- Edge Computing: Processing data closer to the source to reduce latency.
- IoT Integration: Networking devices in the Internet of Things for improved
connectivity and automation.
- Software-Defined Networking (SDN): Centralized control of network infrastructure
through software.
- Security Focus: Increasing emphasis on cybersecurity in the face of evolving threats.
