positions in the U.S. According to the Labor Statistics report of the U.S, there will be a rise in the
demand for skilled Data scientists at the pace of 27.9 per cent by the year 2026.

WOMEN IN DATA SCIENCE

According to the study conducted by the Boston Consulting Group in 2020, only 15% of Data
scientists are women. That lack of diversity is a serious issue, the study says: "Artificial
intelligence algorithms are powerless to predisposition, so constructing them requires a group of
people that incorporates a wide scope of perspectives, views, and experiences." It is important
to encourage women to pursue this field.

THE TWO PATHS OF CAREER: SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & COMPANIES

The two prime paths to walk to grow your data-centric career in data science is— either to
pursue jobs like Data Analyst, Database Developer, or data scientist and become a data
science professional or to opt for an analytics-enabled role like a functional business analyst or
a data-driven manager.

Both the career paths are required basic skills and knowledge in data mining, data
management, data analytics, programming, and data visualization. Skills are a crucial factor in
this field, skills and knowledge required to become a Data science professional are— Apache
Hadoop, Apache Spark, Data modelling, Data Visualisation, Machine learning, Programming,
etc are the examples of skills and knowledge one should harness to step in the career of Data
science. Skills and knowledge required to become a Data analyst are— A/B Testing, Domain
Knowledge, Excel, SQL, Data Visualization, Programing, Report, etc.

Many organizations are embracing Data analysis for their growth and development. Data
Scientists are in great demand not only in the tech field but also in all the other major sectors
including FMCG, Logistics, and more. It is an honour to say that the biggest companies like
Google, Amazon, Apple, Facebook, and Microsoft have hired one-half of the total Data
Scientists the world has.
