EQUIPMENT PURPOSE
AND DESIGN
PURPOSE
REOTEK’s line of goods includes horizontal rectifying apparatus
(HRA). Nowadays REOTEK is only one Company in the world, which
designs and produces this type of equipment. REOTEK refineries are
equipped with HRA. Also the Company offers these vessels to a wide
range of Customers, working in gas processing and oil-refining indus-
tries, petrochemical and other industries.
REOTEK horizontal rectifying apparatus are designed for
fractionating of hydrocarbon liquids (rectification) as well as for absorb-
ing of substances from gas mix (absorption). The absorption is usually
used for hydrocarbon gas draying and treatment from sour gas
components. Crude oil, gas condensate, naphtha, fuel oil, oil-slime,
spirits and other types of hydrocarbons serve as a raw material for
further rectification.
The diameter of vessels is from 8 to 70 inches. The weight of
REOTEK HRA is at least 2 time lower then vertical column of the 2
same production capacity. HRA can be installed on a moving
platform (automotive vehicles, vessels). REOTEK apparatus can be
operated in different climate zones at the environmental temperatures
from +95 to -80°F and humidity up to 100%.
DESIGN AND OPERATING PRINCIPLE
The design of HRA and vertical columns differs even though they
are intended for solution of the same tasks. But in comparison with
vertical columns HRAs have some advantages.
REOTEK HRA has all-welded structure with external lagging for
safe operation. In HRA the steam goes along apparatus owing to the
inlet and outlet pressure difference and the liquid (feedstock) moves in
reverse direction driven by steam energy. Special contact chambers in
HRAs serve as column trays, where the contact of liquid and steam
takes place. In the contact area liquid and steam intensively mix and
then liquid (final oil product) is withdrawn in direction opposite to steam
movement and the steam goes to another chamber.
All chambers of HRA are fractionating ones i.e. the withdrawal of
oil products can be carried out from any apparatus chamber without
HRA any design change.

EQUIPMENT SUPPLY
AND OPERATION
SUPPLY

Usually it takes about 1-2 months for the equipment manufacturing and supply after
Purchase order placing. Materials and components used for manufacturing of HRA pro-
vide for best operating characteristics and high corrosion resistance. Together with the
equipment all necessary maintenance and permission documentation is delivered to
Customer. 100% factory readiness allows the REOTEK’s team to put the equipment into
operation within a very short period of time.

OPERATION

If REOTEK HRA is used as an integral part of a processing facility the technology

process can be centrally-controlled with automatic process control system. In this case
liquid and steam flow and process temperature are subjects of monitoring. Should
REOTEK HRA is operated separately, the Customer can order additionally and install
appropriate control and measuring instruments to control the process.

Owing to introduced design solutions HRAs can be operated with wider range of
feedstock charge in comparison with vertical columns from -40 to + 10%. One of the
3 REOTEK apparatus distinctive feature is the high precision of distillation: fractions
overlap is from 0 to 10°С, thus ensuring the high quality of final oil products.

The maintenance of HRA during the operation includes the in-service inspection 1
time a year.
