About the organization
Waltr is a manufacturer of an IoT based water monitoring system company. Their product suite
include monitoring (water level, usage, and quality) and control systems (borewell and motor
controllers) aim to resolve issues of overflow in overhead tanks and automate borewell operations.

The organisation was started on 3 rd April, 2018 by co-founders Mr. Vikram Raikhelkar & Mr. Siddhath
Panda and recently celebrated its 5 years of existence. The startup has grown to 35 members over
the years with revenues of __________ per year. The startup has raised INR 35.5M from investors
Whiteboard Capital over 2 rounds.

The Problem
Each startup works towards solving a particular problem. The founders aimed to resolve the problem
of overflows in over-head tanks from housing complexes. The problem identified were following:

1. The wired type of automation got corroded in the water within few months and then reported
faulty levels.
2. The wired sensors detected water at depths of say 25%, 50%, 75% & 100%. This did not provide
feedback to the water management team on the present volume of water.
3. The water management team was unaware of the consumption pattern and the time for which
the existing water in over-head tank could serve.

Idea
Waltr identified that wifi enabled non-contact type ultrasonic sensors could solve the problem. With
ultrasonic sensors being non-contact type, the corrosion of the sensor could be done away with, and
this would lead to a long life of the sensor. The continuous monitoring would also provide for
continuous level measurement and the data can be fed back to the cloud so that usage patterns can
be detected, and intelligent water alerts can be developed.
The Solution – A Smart Water Monitor
1. An ultrasonic sensor that measures the water level in tank and feeds the data to the device.

2. The device sends data to the cloud server

3. The data is then analysed for consumption patterns and usage statistics.
4. The analytics can be then forwarded to the app on the phones of the consumer.
