Course Aim
To provide students with knowledge, skills and understanding of using application
Software such as word processing, spreadsheet and presentation software.
Expected Learning Outcomes
At the end of the course the students expected to develop: -
i. Ability to use word processing software
ii. Ability to use spreadsheet
iii. Ability to use presentation software

Course Content
Word 2019
Brief introduction of word 2016, basic idea of the text, formatting of text, saving a document,
modifying page layout &design tab, proofing documents, printing documents, formatting
paragraphs, exemplifying a document, customizing a document, styles & themes, functioning
with tables, sharing a document, mail merge, reviewing a document, and finalizing and
protecting a document.
Excel 2019
Brief introduction of Excel 2016, data entry, calculations, formulas, formatting, updating a
calculation, percentages and absolute references, conditional formatting, if function & SUM if
functions, pie charts, shortcuts, auditing and troubleshooting formulas, advanced charts,
important excel tools etc.

PowerPoint 2019
Brief introduction of PowerPoint 2016, functioning with presentations, how to insert pictures to
presentation slides, how to insert content to presentation slides, how to insert animation, audio,
video to presentation slides etc., how to create and add 3D pictures and effects in power point,
how to finalize, present, export and share the presentation.

Teaching and Learning Activities


This module will be conducted through Lectures, laboratory work, guided independent work,
industrial placement, short practical/theoretical tests.

Assessment Methods
The course assessment will include take home exercises, class tests, group/Individual
assignments, laboratory exercises (continuous assessment) and end of semester examination.
