2. a. A Paragraph is a group of closely related sentences that develop one single idea or topic.
The sentences within a paragraph work together to convey a specific message or provide
information about the main idea. Each paragraph should focus on a single topic, and discussing
more than one topic within a paragraph is not acceptable. (reference:
https://writingcenter.unc.edu/tips-and-tools/paragraphs/).
The topic sentence is the first sentence of a paragraph, and it states the main idea or focus
of the paragraph. It serves several important functions, such as substantiating or supporting the
essay's thesis statement, unifying the content of the paragraph, and advising the reader of the
subject to be discussed and how the paragraph will discuss it. Following the topic sentence, the
supporting sentences provide additional information, details, examples, explanations, facts,
reasons, or statistics to explain, prove, or enhance the main idea stated in the topic sentence. The
concluding sentence is the last sentence of a paragraph, and it summarizes the key points
discussed in the paragraph. It often restates or reinforces the main idea of the topic sentence,
reminding the reader of the main point without introducing new information. The concluding
sentence helps to bring the paragraph to a close and transition to the next paragraph or idea.

topic sentence that introduces the main idea of the paragraph, followed by supporting sentences
that provide evidence, examples, or explanations to support the main idea. The conclusion is the
