Week 6 Objectives:

1. Enhance scrabble skills using scrabble strategies

2. Know the importance of these strategies to win

Strategies

1. Value the S and blank tiles.

- Try to keep them for high-scoring plays (some say 30 for an “S” and 50 for a blank tile)
2. Rack balancing/rack management. (Planning ahead)
- Play words that will leave you with a good balance of letters
- Keep a good mix of consonants and vowel, it’s easier to score consistently throughout the game. Ideal
ratio is generally 4 consonants to 3 vowels.
- Certain mixes of consonants work well together in search of scrabble or 50-pt move, or a combination
of hard and soft consonants
HARD CONSONANTS: BDFGJKPQTVX
SOFT CONSONANTS: HLMNRSWYZ
