ACTIVITY for Module 16:

1. State the purpose of Abaquin’s “Prepare Me Theory” and Laurente’s “Theory of Nursing
Practice and Career”.
- Abaquin’s “Prepare Me Theory” is nursing interventions that can be given to cancer
patients in any setting where they choose to be confined in order to address their
multifaceted problems. The emphasis of this program is on providing nursing care
holistically.
- Laurente’s “Theory of Nursing Practice and Career”, families are the patient's other
point of contact for assistance, and nurses can be very helpful in preventing serious
complications before they even arise. Through effective communication, the nurse
can contribute to the family's development of knowledge, skills, and attitude.
2. How will you apply the “Prepare Me Theory” in Nursing Practice?
- I will apply this theory by doing the “Prepare Me Theory” components:
 Presence being with another person during the times of need.
 Reminisce Therapy recall of past experiences, feelings and thoughts to
facilitate adaptation to present circumstances.
