Accomplishment Report
Celebration of Andres Bonifacio Day
I. INTRODUCTION
The Philippines is undergoing a continuous crisis, brought about by decades of
Foreegn exploitation and centuries of class entrenchment. Semik-colonialism andsemi-
feudalism have resulted in a political economy that concentrates economic development
in an increasingly small section of the population, while a large majority remain
agricultural and left behind. Political power ends up resting on the laurels of the wealthy
few, whil the rest are left to deal with the constant fear of death.
In this current situation, we must ask ourselves: What do es it mean to celebrate
Andres Bonifacio? Bonifacio similarlyfound himself in a society plagued by crisis. S
Spanish colonoreignialism was sucking the country’s natural resources dry, while
feudalism entrench a foreign elite and creaed institutions which kept them in place.
The life and death of Andre Bonifacio are filled wits myseryh tragedy as well a
mystery. Sadly, for most Filipinos, the Great Plebeian is nothing more than a face
etched on our coins or an eponymous hero behind Fort Bonifaciol.
