CHAPTER V

SUMMARY OF FINDINGS, CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS

This chapter exemplifies the summary of findings, the conclusions reached by

the researches based on the strength of the findings and the recommendations to

improve the variables.

Summary of Findings.

From the findings that are being elaborated in the preceding chapter, the

following salient points are hereby stressed.

1. Table 1.1 exhibits the status of student’s perception towards reading

strategies in terms of story grammar was deduced to be a “usually”

assessment as confirmed in the overall weighted mean of 3.02.

2. Table 1.2 shows the status of student’s perception towards reading

strategies in terms of think aloud which was deducted to be a “usually”

assessment as confirmed in the overall weighted mean of 2.91.

3. Table 1.3 reveals the overall weighted mean of the perception toward

reading strategies in terms of story grammar and think aloud which was

categorized as “usually” as confirmed in the grand weighted mean of 2.97.

4. Table 2.1 exhibits the overall level of student’s reading comprehension in

terms of vocabulary knowledge which was “approaching proficient”

performance as confirmed in the overall mean of 8.33.

5. Table 2.2 reveals the overall level of student’s reading comprehension in

terms of text comprehension which was deduced to be a “developing”

performance as confirmed in the overall mean of 5.4

6. Table 2.3 shows the overall weighted mean of the level of students’

reading comprehension categorized as “approaching proficient” as

confirmed in the grand weighted mean of 6.87.

7. Table 3 shows that the null hypothesis is accepted and therefore, there is

no significant relationship between Teacher’s Reading Strategies &

Student’s Reading Comprehension.

Conclusions

Based on the summary of findings, the following conclusions were drawn:

1. The perception of the students about the Story Grammar and Think Aloud

were good and useful. However, it also showed that they only use these

rarely or usually.

2. The level of student`s reading comprehension in terms of vocabulary

knowledge and text comprehension was described as proficient. This

outcome emphasized that the respondents were good but at the same time,

they still need to improve their reading comprehension. Thus, they need to

learn, develop, and asses.

3. Result showed that there was no significant relationship between reading

strategies and student’s reading comprehension. Hence, the reading strategy

that were being employed affects the students’ reading comprehension.

Recommendations

The following recommendations are deducted based on the findings and

conclusions.

1. Students should apply story grammar and think aloud in order to improve their

reading comprehension which could help them better in understanding the

certain text.

2. Students should participate actively in every reading and oral activity to

improve their reading and comprehension skills

3. Teachers should always employ such strategies in order to have an effective

results from the students.

4. Future researcher are recommended to conduct similar to study to validate

the results of the present study.
