“An investment in knowledge pays the best interest”, this quote made me become a
person who tries my best in the things I am interested in. Imagine being a patient who has an
appointment with the dentist four times a year. When I was young, I always asked for a balloon
and sticker after finishing the appointment. I have never cried when I know that I have to go to
the dental clinic since I always trust in my dentist and I feel safe when I am with her. This
inspired me to start exploring the world of dentistry and become interested in this occupation
since I wanted to take care of others' teeth and want my patients to have trust in me as I do, so
no one has to be worried when they have an appointment with the dentist.
I always see myself as a person whose routine is going to the hospital and ending up at
the clinic. For that dream to come true, I started to focus on studying biology in my school. I
went to the open houses of many universities where they would have dentistry workshops for
students who were interested in this career path. I have tried to do dental filling on the tooth
statue. There was a time when I was confused about whether I liked being a doctor or a dentist. I
found out my own answer after I had a chance to go for an internship at Maha Chakri Sirindhorn
Dental Hospital for 5 days. This allows me to truly know about this career, it shows me the dark
side of becoming a dentist which some might not like, but this causes me to have more passion
for this occupation.
After I went to an internship, I got a chance to see a doctor treat a disabled child which
gave me the answer that I wanted about being a dentist. This occupation is not just to treat
normal people, but we should be concerned about everyone. It requires lots of patience and
understanding towards our patients. The most important thing that I realized is we can not
choose our own patients and we need to treat everyone equally no matter who they are. It is not
just about making people look more charming, but it also allows people to use their teeth
effectively. Moreover, this causes me to see myself clearer and set a goal that if I were a dentist, I
would like to help people who do not have a chance to go to the clinic or the hospital, I wanted to
change their lives not just for use their teeth effectively but also look charming at the same time.
As I see my dream clearer, I would find the path that would take me to achieve my goal.
Being in the environment that suits me could help me to develop more efficiently. Studying in
the international program would allow me to help people in various countries, not just only in
Thailand. By receiving a chance to be a student in Mahidol University would allow me to learn
and gain the best theoretical knowledge for my future career to help others.

Overall comment: I find the story does not show your reasons for studying a dentistry program
so clearly. Most reasons are quite weak and do not really connect to the experiences you
mentioned. The grandparents’ part is hard to tell; how could that inspire you to be a dentist?
Seeing the treatment of the disabled child is also not linked to equal access to treatment, how
someone can’t afford the price, or your goal to enhance the overall charm of others. The main
idea is somehow confusing. The good part is that you describe your learning background and
internship journey. This part can be elaborated on even more. You only need to present more
details for each activity so it shows your skill development and your strengths.
Lastly, I suggest that once you edit the work, you can use QuillBot to paraphrase your wording to
be more fluent and sharp.

Comment: I really like the background story that links back to your childhood and shows that
there is a sentimental aspect for your reasoning of wanting to study dentistry. I mostly see room
for improvement for making the sentences more concise or improving flow between paragraphs,
and some minor grammatical errors, but overall the SOP does a great job at illustrating your
reasons for studying this field at this specific university

Final draft
“An investment in knowledge pays the best interest”. This quote is what made me
become a person who tries my best at the things I am passionate about. When I was younger,
upon completion of my four annual dental checkups, I requested to receive a balloon and
sticker. I never cried because I felt secure and safe in my dentist's presence. She always spoke
politely to me and inquired about the topics that interested me, which eased all of my anxieties.
My interest in dentistry was also sparked by witnessing my grandparents' shame and
embarrassment when they realized they had left their dentures behind at the restaurant. I never
wanted to go through that, but I wanted to provide dental care for others. I do not want other
people to feel awkward and ashamed when they leave behind dentures in a restaurant, as my
grandparents did. As much as I trusted my own dentist, I wish for my patients to trust me
similarly. I want to be able to give my own patients the same level of attention and comfort.
My father has always wanted me to become a doctor, so when I was younger, I was not
sure if I wanted to be a doctor or a dentist. In school, I started concentrating on studying
biology, which was about the human body and living things, in order to fulfill that dream. At that
point, I realized science is a field I enjoy and excel at, one that was relevant to a career in
dentistry. I had the chance to attempt making a dental filling on a tooth statue and attended
open houses at several institutions where there were dentistry workshops for students interested
in this field. I also had a chance to do an internship at Maha Chakri Sirindhorn Dental Hospital
for 5 days. I was able to learn a lot about this career. I became even more passionate about
dentistry as a result of seeing the challenges that dentists face every day.
My desire became evident to me when I witnessed a dentist treating a disabled child
during my internship. The way that the dentist helped to make this special child have in some
way a better life touched my heart. This line of work involves more than just treating a particular
group of people; it involves caring for the well-being of all. It requires a great deal of patience
and empathy for the patients. The most significant realization I had was that we must treat every
person equally, regardless of identity, and that we are unable to select our patients. It is not only
about giving people gorgeous smiles; it is also about improving their ability to make better use of
their teeth. I additionally established goals and observed things more clearly as a result of this. If
I were a dentist, I would like to assist those, including the disabled, who can't afford to go to
clinics or hospitals. By optimizing them and enhancing their overall appearance, I hope to
completely change their lives.
As my objectives become more apparent, I am going to identify the route that will lead
me there. Being in a setting that works for me could facilitate my development more quickly. By
enrolling in the international program, I will be able to assist visitors from other countries by
using my English communication skills. Being able to attend Mahidol University would provide
me the opportunity to learn and acquire the best knowledge possible for my future career of
assisting others

Ms. Fon’s comment: It shows some improvement but still room for more!

Naijai: I like how there is a specific goal of helping those who are disabled, and the significant
event that led to that realization. It adds a personal sentimental element to your story and makes
it more touching. 6/6
Interview Reflection:
During the preparation of the interview, it was hard for me to answer each guiding question
since I have not thought about all of those questions before. While answering each question on
my own, I felt like I have gained and learned some new information about myself. I started to
explore the other side and myself deeper. I start to ask myself about what goal I have in the
future and also look back to all of my achievements. This made me notice that the mindset I had
about having nothing proud of myself was not true. There are some achievements that I was very
proud about. I also have a chance to explore my weaknesses and how to overcome them. During
the interview, I felt very nervous since I think I could not speak fluently, but in the end
everything went better than I thought. I could answer every question fluently. When I was done
with the interview for the leadership project, my teacher gave me a challenge by asking all of the
same questions and told me that I could not answer in the same way. This is very challenging for
me and I learn many new things and new ways of answering the question. The most memorable
things that I had learned was answering my weaknesses. At first, I thought that we should not
show the weakness we had since I might make myself look bad, but after I gained the feedback I
have learned that it was fine to show our own weakness and it is good to show that I know about
myself. Along with showing ways and solutions to overcome my own weaknesses The feedback
and the comment that I receive mostly are about now explaining the details. So in the future, if I
have the interview for my university application, I think I could use all the comments I receive to
improve myself and answer in a better way.
