1.2 PARTICIPATION
Identifying the Purpose of the Instructional Materials

The importance of producing instructional materials is to facilitate the

teaching-learning process. The essence is not to use the instructional materials
as objects of decoration, but instructional materials must be utilized for
effective, meaningful, and interactive teaching-learning engagements.

As you assist your CT in searching for needed instructional materials,

consider the following purposes why teachers use instructional materials in
teaching.

Purposes of the Utilization of the Instructional Materials

● The instructional materials bring life to learning by stimulating students

to learn
● The instructional materials improve student comprehension of the
concepts being taught by supporting the teacher in clearly explaining
new ideas.
● The instructional materials enhance the memory level of the students.
● The instructional materials is to facilitate the teaching-learning process.
● The instructional materials are for the improvement of student rate of
accumulation.
● The instructional materials serve as tools used by the teachers to correct
wrong impressions and illustrate things that learners cannot forget
easily.
● The instructional materials Assist in giving a sense of reality to the body
of knowledge under discussions.
● The instructional materials give lessons a personal look and encourage
the teacher’s creativity.
● The instructional materials Permit the students and teachers to
experience in concrete terms the learning activities that can promote the
idea of self-evaluation.
1.3 IDENTIFICATION
Considering the Different Principles in Selecting Instructional Materials

While searching for your CTs instructional materials, make yourself

guided by the following
principles in selecting instructional materials (Buno,2004).
Check whether what you have searched adhere to the given principles:

Yes No
A. Principle of Appropriateness (appropriate to the intended
learning
objectives and level of the learners)
B. Principle of Authenticity (present, accurate, up to date and
dependable
information)
C. Principle of Cost (economical and easy to manipulate)

D. Principle of Interest (power to encourage creativity and

imaginative response among the learners)
E. Principle of Organization and Balance (clarity and in
accordance with the
principles of learning such as reinforcement or transfer)

REEXAMINING YOUR ASSISTING TASK:

In assisting your CT to search for appropriate instructional materials,

what problems have you encountered in the principles to apply in the selection
of instructional materials?

➢ In assisting our CT, we had trouble searching for instructional material,

but with today's technology, accessing accurate and current materials is
simple. It also costs less because students can download the materials
instead of purchasing them from bookstores. These learning resources
are in line with the principles of organization and balance when they use
specific keywords. Given that an online course is less engaging and that
it might occasionally be dull, it really took me some time to consider
whether the instructional material can inspire students' creativity.
1.4 INTERNALIZATION

2. Write your short reflection on how teaching a certain lesson can be better
because the teacher uses appropriate instructional materials.

Teaching TLE is better This Time

(Subject/Lesson)

The utilization of proper instructional resources by the teacher can improve

the quality of a given lesson. When it comes to teaching, instructional
materials are highly effective since they enable both teachers and students to
actively engage in creating a particular lesson and to bring the topic to life.
All you have to do is make sure the materials are clear and easy to access,
offer a variety of materials that will enhance and support the curriculum and
course objectives, and support learning objectives. Appropriate instructional
materials can help to better understand the lessons or topic and can be used
to determine the learner's strengths and weaknesses.

2.1 EXPOSURE
Defining Instructional Materials for Various Purposes in the Classroom.

Instructional Materials Purpose for Use

1. Print (Books, Magazines, Students can use it without any extra

Newspapers, Posters, Charts equipment, and print materials can
be utilized anywhere at any time as
long as there is enough light. It is
also very portable, reasonably priced,
easily accessible, and easy to use.
Reviewing the materials at their own
pace is an option for students.

2. Chalkboards / Boardwork Chalkboards and board work give

teachers more control over their
classes by giving them a space to
observe and deal with troublesome
students. Chalkboards demand that
the lights in the classroom be turned
on, which keeps students' attention
and enables teachers to keep a closer
eye on their behavior.

3. Models, Globes, Maps, Realia Globes and maps are essential

resources for pinpointing locations on
Earth's surface. Both are reasonable-
sized depictions of the actual Earth.
A globe is an accurate miniature
representation. A map is a flat,
typically distorted representation of a
place.

4. Audio-Media (analog tape Audio media holds significance since

cassettes, it can be employed in our instruction,
digital CDs) particularly for courses that are easily
comprehended by students through
the usage of audio. By utilizing
additional media, like audio, we can
add interest to our teaching. To just a
few, audio media can provide a
variety of special benefits to the
teaching and learning process, such
as self-study for non-readers, realistic
practice in foreign languages, stories
to pique the imagination, and music
for physical exercise.

5. Videotapes, Films, Videodiscs Children connect more quickly when

they watch videos. Well-made
instructional movies let people think
like they are asking questions, which
dramatically enhances recall. Posing
questions fosters improved problem-
solving, teamwork, organizational,
and research abilities. They provide
you the option to rewind, pause, or go
around the video as needed to
conduct class discussions or go over
specific points. They give educators
the ability to set up a "blended" or
"flipped" classroom.

6. Television Watching television is a fantastic

method to help your child learn about
subjects they might not be exposed to
at school and to open their mind to a
variety of ideas. Conversely,
television can serve as a complement
to schooling for kids on significant
topics and serve to reinforce what
they learn in school.

7. Technology-Driven (websites, The primary goal of introducing

YouTube videos) technology into the classroom is to
alter the ways in which educators
and learners obtain, use, evaluate,
communicate, and display knowledge.
This has the potential to assist
differentiate instruction and
democratize knowledge in
classrooms, especially for students
with special needs.

Planning for Instructional Materials for Actual Use

Submit to your CT your tentative layout of Instructional materials that

you will prepare.
REEXAMINING YOUR ASSISTING TASK:

What difficulties confronted you while you in the preparation of

instructional materials?

Many obstacles must be overcome in order to prepare the teaching materials,

such as a lack of supplies, a teacher's laziness, a lack of knowledge and
techniques, a lack of funds, a lack of relevant textbook materials, a lack of
time, a lack of authority, and a shortage of geography resources. Creating my
lesson plan and making sure my resources are applicable, simple to use, and
grasp are the challenges I had when preparing my lesson plans. My goal is for
my students to learn and comprehend the content more.

My Success in Preparing Instructional Materials

As a Teacher Future Educator, I understand that every learner is different
from the next and that there are a number of key considerations while
creating educational materials. The criteria are as follows: a wide range of
user interests, skills, backgrounds, cultures, languages, and levels of
maturity. Content meant for student usage should be suitable for the subject
matter as well as the age, stage of social development, skill levels, special
needs, and learning preferences of the students the collection serves. The
chosen materials should promote informative, instructive, and recreational
reading, watching, and/or listening in addition to supporting, enhancing, and
expanding the school's curriculum. As everyone knows, teachers of all
stripes use a range of teaching aids, including handouts, slideshows, and
textbooks, to improve the caliber of their courses. The standard of instruction
is directly impacted by the caliber of those resources. Finding the greatest
teaching resources is an important skill for educators to possess.

The purpose of instructional materials, also known as educational

resources, is to monitor students' information absorption, enhance their
knowledge, skills, and general growth while also supporting their raising.
Additionally, it makes sense of key ideas that spark and maintain students'
interest, allow every student in a class to share experiences that are essential
for fresh learning, and contribute to learning that is more enduring.
