WHAT IS IT?
They are handmade fabrics that are part of the Kuna
indigenous culture. They are made and woven by Kuna women
as a traditional part of their clothing.
MATERIALS:
they are woven manually in cotton fabrics of square
or rectangular shapes and of various colors, fabrics
that, when perforated and superimposed, result in a
product of special and symbolic meanin
DESCRIPTION:
The molas are made up of several layers of fabric worked in a
technique called reverse appliqué, an embroidery technique also
used in quilting. It consists of arranging layers of fabric and
then cutting through the top layers to reveal the ones below with
unique motifs. Reverse appliqué gives the mola dimension, color,
shape and texture
