B. Concurrent Requirements
(1) Not applicable.
C. Reason
WARNING: FAILURE TO COMPLY WITH THIS SERVICE BULLETIN COULD CAUSE
DISTRESS OF THE ENGINE TURBINE COMPONENTS. IF LEFT
UNCORRECTED, THIS DISTRESS COULD CAUSE A REDUCTION IN
ENGINE POWER OR IN-FLIGHT SHUTDOWN.
(1) Problem:
(a) Damage to fuel nozzle assemblies can disrupt the fuel spray patterns.
(2) Background:
(a) Fractures of the internal passage components and/or leakage between
primary and secondary fuel passages within the body, a component of the fuel
nozzle assembly, can result in significant disruption of the fuel spray patterns.
A disrupted spray pattern can cause thermal damage to turbine components.
Some turbine components may fail if thermal damage occurs.
(b) Existing body cross leakage checks in the engine maintenance manuals
may not detect all cases of leakage between the primary and secondary
fuel passages.
(c) A cross leakage check for the body is not included in the fuel nozzle assembly
component manual.
(3) Technical Validation:
(a) No design validation was necessary because the design was not changed.
(4) Benefits:
(a) Fuel nozzle assemblies are inspected at an increased frequency.
(b) An improved procedure for checking for body cross flow leakage is used.
(5) Action:
(a) Perform fuel nozzle assembly inspections at a frequency of no greater than
every 350 hours.
(b) Perform the body cross flow leakage check provided in this service bulletin
at each inspection of the fuel nozzle assembly.
D. Description
(1) This service bulletin revises the fuel nozzle assembly inspection interval to be no
greater than every 350 hours.
(2) This service bulletin provides instructions to perform an improved body cross flow
leakage check.
(3) The operator may elect to base the fuel nozzle assembly inspection interval on engine
cycles rather than engine hours. In this case however, do not exceed 350 hours
maximum between fuel nozzle assembly inspection intervals.
E. Compliance
(1) Compliance addresses a safety issue.
(2) Honeywell recommends that the fuel nozzle assemblies listed in Table 2 are to be
inspected at a frequency no greater than every 350 hours. Initiate this inspection
interval following the next fuel nozzle assembly inspection that occurs after receipt
of the initial issue (revision 0) of this service bulletin. Every fuel nozzle assembly
inspection is to include the body cross leakage check provided in this service bulletin.
The body cross leakage check requirements provided in Paragraph 4.A. Appendix
A of this service bulletin shall apply until incorporated into the next revisions of the
applicable EMMs and component overhaul manual 73-10-19 following the initial
issue date of this service bulletin.
F. Approval
(1) The accomplishment instructions are FAA approved.
G. Manpower
(1) No additional man-hours are required to accomplish this change when performed at
time of inspection or when repair necessitates access to the affected part.
H. Weight and Balance
(1) None.
I. Electrical Load Data
(1) Not applicable.
J. Software Accomplishment Summary
(1) Not applicable.
K. References
(1) The sources of information used in the preparation of this service bulletin include
Honeywell engineering documentation and the documents listed in Table 4.

A. General Information
NOTE: The body cross leakage check currently in the EMMs at the time of this service
bulletin initial publication is to be superseded by the body cross leakage check
procedure provided in Appendix A of this service bulletin. The EMMs will be revised
to provide this newer procedure subsequent to publication of this service bulletin.
The fuel nozzle assembly component overhaul manual will also be revised to
incorporate this newer procedure subsequent to publication of this service bulletin.
NOTE: The body cross leakage check requirements provided in Appendix A of this service
bulletin shall apply until incorporated into the next revision of the applicable EMMs
and component overhaul manual 73-10-19 following the initial issue date of this
service bulletin.
(1) Remove fuel nozzle assemblies from the engine and visually examine for the following
conditions:
(a) Excessive distortion or damage of the fuel nozzle.
1 Air sweep shroud material loss.
a Complete loss of material spanning diametrically from the
inner diameter of the air sweep shroud lip to the outer-most
diameter of the holes, and circumferentially extending
beyond three adjoining holes, in one or more locations.
Refer to Figure 1.
as applicable and the body cross leakage checks provided in Paragraph 4.A. of this
service bulletin.
NOTE: Use care when handling fuel nozzle assemblies. Do not install any fuel
nozzle assembly into an engine that is suspected of, or that shows evidence
of being dropped or similarly mishandled. This type of mishandling may
upset the seal between the body and the fuel nozzle and result in cross
leakage.
(4) Install serviceable fuel nozzle assemblies, reassemble and test the engine in
accordance with the EMM or OHM, as applicable. Serviceable fuel nozzle assemblies
are those that are new (TSN = 0) or have been disassembled, cleaned, inspected, and
functionally tested in accordance with Paragraph 3.B.(3) of this service bulletin.
(5) Make an entry in the engine log book noting date of compliance, engine operating
time, part number(s) and serial number(s) of installed component(s) (as applicable),
and compliance with this service bulletin (and service bulletin revision number, if
applicable).
(6) Reidentification of equipment is not required.
(7) Complete the Certificate of Compliance form in Paragraph 4.B. and send to Honeywell.
