DEFINITION

Meronymy is a semantic relation in linguistics that


denotes a part and a whole. In simpler terms, a
meronym is in a part-of relationship with its
holonym.

Similarly, in a partonomy, the relationship is


between parts and wholes, and it is used in
linguistics and computer science, with
applications in biology.
EXAMPLE
Fingers and Hand
Because fingers is a part of hands so it is
considered a Meronymy.

Wings and Airplane Keyboard and computer


Wings is part of an Airplane besides Keyboard is used to type on both
engine, tire, etc. computer and laptop, so keyboard is part
of computer.
Beak and Bird Handle and Door
Beak is an important part of bird along side Handle is part of Door that used as a

MERONYMY
