IV. PROCEDURES
A. Introduction Drill:
Look at each picture. Pick the word or phrase that best says something about the
picture.

Review:
What is the plural form of tooth?
What is the plural form of child?

Motivation:
(The teacher will present a picture to the class.)
Do you have cats at home?
Except from cat, what are the other pets do you have?
What are the things you should do to take care of your pets?

B. Development (Before telling the story the teacher will ask the pupils to give the standards in
reading a story.)

1. Who has a cat?

2. What did they do in the farm?

3. If you were Matt, what would you do to find Pat?

• CVC - Consonant-Vowel-Consonant
• The alphabet is divided into two groups:
a. Vowels – A E I O U
b. Consonants – B C D F G H J K L M N P Q R S T V W X Y Z
• The alphabet is used to make a word with CVC pattern.

CVC words with short vowel /a/


• The short vowel sound /a/ is pronounced as /ah/. This can be produced by
opening the mouth wide enough to release the air from lungs.

CVC words with short vowel /e/


• The short vowel sound /e/ is pronounced as /eh/. This can be produced by
opening the mouth slightly wide enough to release the air from lungs.

• The short vowel sound /i/ is pronounced as /ih/. This can be produced by
opening the mouth as if you smiling and releasing the air from the lungs.

• The CVC spelling pattern with short vowel sound /o/ is pronounced as /oh/.
This can be produced by opening the mouth like letter O and releasing the air
from the lungs.

• The CVC spelling pattern with short vowel sound /u/ is pronounced as /uh/.
This can be produced by opening the mouth and releasing the air from the
