ETAP FAQ - License Manager Compatibility

The ETAP License Manager released with version 5.5 is compatible with earlier releases of ETAP with one minor modification. For earlier releases that used the NamedPipes installation method, the ETAPS.INI file on client machines must be edited to change the license manager server specification to LM TCP Server and specify the server name. No changes are needed if the earlier installation used the TCP/IP method. The license manager allows monitoring and administering access to ETAP licenses to maximize productivity.

There is one condition that requires a minor modification in the ETAPS.INI file. In the earlier releases user could use
NamedPipes or TCP/IP method of installation. In the new version only the TCP/IP method is supported.

A. If your earlier installation was based on TCP/IP then you do not need to make any changes.
