Skit on witch hunting:-

In a small village in Jharkhand, there lived a family of four, two brothers Pankaj and Suraj and
their wives Malti and Rupa.
On one unfortunate day Pankaj passed away because of long term illness. After the post demise
rituals were done, Rupa and Suraj were talking to each other about Pankaj and how devastating it
was to them!

Rupa tells Suraj that it is almost impossible that a fine, healthy man like Pankaj can get
succumbed to sickness out of nowhere. She questions the fact that it is a matter of shock that
Pankaj responded to no medication and no treatment at all! Suraj tries to understand this and
later agrees to this.
Later Rupa says she thinks the reason behind Pankaj’s mysterious death is Malti. Suraj bashes
her talk but she still tries to convince him and adds, that Pankaj’s health started deteriorating
only after his marriage to Malti which was just 2 months ago. It cannot be a mere coincidence.
She then states that Malti might be a witch and she did this to her husband. Suraj assents to this
and they finally go to Malti’s room to confront her.

In her room, Malti was heedlessly sobbing due to her newly wed husband’s demise!
Rupa and Suraj enter the room and shout on her saying that she is a witch and she’s the reason
behind her husband’s death. She tries to explain it to them that it false and baseless but they
aren’t ready to hear anything and throw her out of their house.

She goes around the village asking for help but gets denied the same and gets accused of being
a witch. The villagers don’t let her drink water from the well and even stop her from entering the
temple excusing that she’s a witch and witches cannot enter a temple. They harass her and
throw her in the suburbs of the village.

She sits there and cries hysterically until two legal interns approach her. These interns were
there in the village for a field visit and rushed for aid when they saw Malti crying. She narrated
the entire story to them and this enraged them completely.

They took her to the village , asked the villagers to assemble there and asked them what had
happened. They were saddened and shocked to see the villagers’ attitude. But they decided to
keep calm and fight for Malti’s rights.

They took the responsibility of making people aware of how this all is just mere superstition
which ruin the lives of innocent women! They told the villagers about the laws and rules and
regulations that we have against such practices of witchcraft and witch hunting. The villagers
finally realise the truth and understand the genuine facts and Malti could now live with respect
and dignity in her house .
