PARACALE, CAMARINES NORTE

The PlanetGOLD Philippines, through the Artisanal Gold Council in partnership with the
Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) and Geosciences Bureau
conducted the Artisanal and Small-Scale Gold Mining (ASGM) Forum on November 22-23,
2023 at Ginintuang Bulwagan, Paracale, Camarines Norte.
Anchored on the theme “Empowerment through Engagement and Participation: Facilitating
Access to Government Information and Services for Small-scale Miners”, this event provides
a platform for government agencies to introduce and discuss the various incentives and
support services offered to ASGM stakeholders. It also aims to emphasize the importance of
access to relevant and accurate information in bridging the gap between miners and the
government.
Said activity was participated in by LGOO VI Milrose E. Abilay, the Municipal Local
Government Operations Officer of Paracale, LGOO II Jose Porfirio R. Mercado and LGOO II
Mark A. Barayoga. An information booth was also set up to feature and exhibit the
Department’s programs and services.
The PlanetGold is a five-year project designed to address key issues linked to the continued
mercury use in the ASGM sector and to provide sustainable development opportunities for
the communities involved.
