Negros June 1, 2023 – As part of the Negros Oriental Chamber of
Oriental Commerce and Industry’s (NOCCI’s) advocacy of developing
Chamber of and promoting green projects in the province of Negros Oriental,
Commerce NOCCI President Edward Du, together with NOCCI Climate
and Industry, Change Committee Chairperson Luis Ramilo, joined the virtual
Inc. meeting on Vanilla Bean Business Development held via Zoom.

June 2, 2023 – NOCCI President Edward Du, together with

Silliman University-Technology Business Incubator (SU-TBI)
Manager Janice Forster and Bluebeans Solutions Founder and
CEO Ed Ryan Alburo, met with Philippine Ports Authority (PPA)-
Negros Oriental/Siquijor Manager Atty. Sarah Mijares to present
and discuss the NOCCI-SU-TBI's E-Ticketing Digital Queuing
System Project Proposal. This undertaking is part of NOCCI’s
proposed long-term solutions to the various issues and concerns
on ticketing and cargo bookings at the Dumaguete Seaport. The
meeting was held at the PPA-Negros Oriental/Siquijor Office.

June 2, 2023 – NOCCI Executive Director John Jalandoni met

with Negros Oriental Provincial Planning and Development

Office (PPDO) Head Engr. Ingo Ash Julian Mercado at NOCCI
Office to lay out plans for various projects on provincial road,
infrastructure, rural industry, MSME, and economic development
in Negros Oriental. This undertaking is in line with the new
provincial administration’s socio-economic development agenda.
NOCCI has been an active CSO-partner of the provincial
government in planning and implementing socio-economic
development programs and projects in Negros Oriental.

June 6, 2023 – NOCCI President Edward Du paid a courtesy

visit to Senator Cynthia Villar to personally extend NOCCI’s
Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry

gratitude for her continued support to NOCCI’s advocacy of

developing and promoting green projects in the province of
Negros Oriental. During the visit, President Du also invited
Senator Villar to be the Keynote Speaker in the upcoming 32nd
Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) Visayas
Area Business Conference (VABC) scheduled on July 27-28,
2023 in Panglao, Bohol.

June 14, 2023 – NOCCI President and Regional Development

Council (RDC)-7 Private Sector Representative (PSR) for
Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry

Negros Oriental Edward Du virtually attended the RDC-

Economic Development Committee 2nd Quarter Meeting held via
Zoom.

NOCCI Executive Director John Jalandoni was also present

during the said meeting.

Department of Information and Communications Technology

(DICT)-Negros Oriental Provincial Director and NOCCI FreeWiFi
Project Partner Engr. Aurelio Tinapay, met with NORECO 2
General Manager and NOCCI member Atty. Fe Marie Tagle to
forge collaboration on NOCCI – Dauin Public Market FreeWiFi
Project and Apo Island Microgrid Solar Project.

June 15, 2023 – The Negros Oriental Chamber of Commerce

and Industry, Inc. (NOCCI) hosted a Joint Meeting with the
Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry

Quarry Permittees Association of Negros Oriental, Inc. (QPA)

and the Negros Oriental Sangguniang Panlalawigan Committee
on Environmental Protection and Natural Resources.

High in the meeting’s agenda was the discussion on NOCCI’s

Proposed Ordinance titled, “Sand and Gravel and Other
Minerals Code of Negros Oriental” as NOCCI’s proposed
solution to the various issues and concerns on quarry operations
in the province of Negros Oriental. The meeting was attended by
NOCCI Officers, headed by President Edward Du, Negros
Oriental First District Board Member and Environmental
Protection & Natural Resources Committee Chair Julius Sabac,
Committee Vice-Chair BM Kit Marc Adanza, Committee member
BM Segfredo Buagas, MGB-7 Personnel Edward Malahay,
Negros Oriental Provincial ENRD Chief Manric Barillo, Provincial
Treasurer’s Office Personnel, QPA Officers, and concerned
NOCCI members. The meeting was held at NOCCI Office,
Dumaguete City.

Industry, Inc. (NOCCI) President Edward Du, Board of Trustee

Jose Ramon Del Prado, and Executive Director John Jalandoni
participated in the Negros Oriental Tourism Stakeholders’
Dialogue initiated and hosted by the newly-installed Negros
Oriental Governor Manuel “Chaco” Sagarbarria.

In that meeting, President Du, who was appointed by Gov.

Sagarbarria as member of the Sidlakang Negros Village
Management Board and Tourism Governing Board, was one of
the speakers in the said Dialogue. In his message, Pres. Du
highlighted NOCCI’s advocacy of advancing and rebranding the
tourism industry in the province of Negros Oriental by embracing
digital transformation and technological innovation.

June 22, 2023 – NOCCI President Edward Du was the Guest of

Honor during the Energy Development Corporation’s (EDC’s)

launching of its Vegetative Material Reproduction (VMR) Facility
located at the Ticala Admin Complex in Brgy. Caidiocan,
Valencia, Negros Oriental. The facility is part of EDC’s BINHI
Program which aims to rescue and propagate threatened
premium and native tree species.

NOCCI, as an advocate of green and sustainable projects in

Negros Oriental, has been supporting and promoting this kind of
project as it is very significant in preserving the environment
towards mitigating the adverse impacts of climate crisis. EDC is
also one of NOCCI’s active partners on its FreeWiFi CSR
Project.

June 23, 2023 – NOCCI President Edward Du, together with

NOCCI Executive Director John Jalandoni, met with the Negros
Oriental Provincial Planning and Development Office (PPDO)-
Economic Development Division, headed by PPDO Head Engr.
Ingo Ash Julian Mercado, to present and deliberate NOCCI’s
Proposed Strategy for Sustained Economic Growth, Inclusivity,
and Resiliency, a proposal for the Economic Program of the new
provincial government administration. The meeting was held at
NOCCI Office, Dumaguete City.

June 23, 2023 – NOCCI President Edward Du virtually attended

the PCCI’s 2nd Legislative Talks on the Proposed Amendments
to the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Law. During the said
legislative talk, Senator Cynthia A. Villar, Chair of the Senate
Committee on Agriculture, Food, and Agrarian Reform
presented and discussed the salient provisions of the proposed
CARL amendments and its status in the plenary.

NOCCI Office for its 2nd Quarter Board Meeting. High in the
meeting’s agenda were the following:

in the Province of Negros Oriental

3. Proposed Negros Oriental Provincial Government –

Lengthy and Slow Process of Evaluation and Release of
Building Permit in the City of Dumaguete

June 27, 2023 – NOCCI President Edward Du took part as one

of the speakers representing the business sector in the

Commission on Elections (COMELEC) Public Consultation on
the Proposed Postponement of the October 2023 Barangay and
Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) in the Province of
Negros Oriental. During the consultation, President Du
presented to the public and submitted to COMELEC Chairman
George Garcia the official Position Paper of NOCCI opposing
the proposed postponement of BSKE in the province of Negros
Oriental. NOCCI Committee on Environment Chairman Fred
Magallano was also present during the said
hearing/consultation.

June 27, 2023 – NOCCI Executive Director John Jalandoni met

with Negros Oriental First District Board Member and
Sangguniang Panlalawigan Tourism Committee Member
Jessica Jane Villanueva to discuss NOCCI’s proposed programs
and projects to support the provincial government’s efforts for
Tourism Promotions and Recovery in Negros Oriental. The
meeting was held at BM Villanueva’s Office, Legislative Building,
Capitol Area, Dumaguete City.

together with Negros Oriental First District Board Member
Jessica Jane Villanueva, participated in the Benchmarking for
Mangrove and Sanctuary Development for Conservation,
Preservation and Tourism Enterprise Development Projects
initiated by Department of Trade and Industry-7 Regional
Director Nannette Arbon conducted at Cebu Safari Adventure
Park in Carmen and at Tudela Mangrove Forest, Camotes
Island.

PCCI Visayas Area Virtual Meeting held via Zoom. The meeting
discussed the PCCI-Visayas Area updates, plans and
trajectories after the COVID-19 pandemic as well as the
highlights of the upcoming 32nd Visayas Area Business
