Structure
Your work should be set out in a report format and therefore headings and subheadings are
appropriate.
Your assignment is a 2,000-word report identifying and discussing factors which impact on
the delivery of aligned care.
So, it is a report identifying and discussing the factors (leadership, management, and
governance) which impact on the delivery of collaborative and integrated nursing care.
HNU300 Summative Assignment 2 Guide
Ideally your report will be focused on a particular area of care or organisation (e.g.
chronic illness, community care, acute care, elderly care, primary care, secondary care etc)
as this will be an area you are more familiar with.
You might want to consider aspects such as leadership, management, teamwork, emotional
intelligence, resilience, motivation and budgeting and others! See Discussion 7:4 too.
The assignment assesses your knowledge and understanding of leadership and
management in nursing, as well as your critical thinking and critical writing skills.
You must use your critical thinking and writing skills, and a variety of sources (journal
articles, books etc) to identify and discuss factors impacting on the delivery of aligned care.
Although this is a report rather than an essay, it should still be set out in a standard
academic essay format (written in paragraphs and include an introduction, main body of
work, and a conclusion).
Aim to include discussion relating to each of the Learning Objectives (see page one of this
guide).
Tip: A nice academic device to “grab” your reader and clarify your understanding of your
core topic might be to include a definition of “aligned care”. This should be from a reputable
source (not Google / Wikipedia / general dictionary etc.) and be cited and referenced in
correct Harvard format.
It should have three key sections: 1) Literature Review, 2) Findings, and 3) Discussion.
Use these as your three key headings in your main body of work.
Findings
This section will need to cover the following points:
• What your research has found.
• What problems there were?
• Was there anything positive?
• Were there any examples of good practice?
Discussion:
In this section you will need to:
• Critically evaluate your findings.
• Make interpretations and judgements.
• Link them to theory, research, and clinical practice.
Conclusion:
• Summarise your content and findings.
• Include any recommendations you may have.
• Do not include any new facts/information/discussion.
• Keep it short and concise.
Reference List:
• Start your Reference List at the top of the page following your assignment.
• All references must be in Harvard format.
• Must be presented in alphabetical order.
• No use of “et al”
• Single line spacing (but with a space between each reference).
• Your Reference List needs to be accurate.
• There should be a reference for all in-text citations (and vice versa).
• Does not count in your word count.
• Use Cite them Rite and UoS Library for support.

Appendices are there to allow the reader to see extra information, but it is not part of your
