Finally High School was over its graduation day and I felt relieved that it was finally over

to get out of high school. I did all my work and ended the year with A and B’s but I could have

done better but I just don't really care. My last year of high school was like being in jail to me. I

had been working a fulltime job the whole school year and going to school. I hated last year

because we were not doing anything. All we did was go to class with a substitute teacher and be

on our phones the whole day. So I decided to work during Senior year and miss school some

days because I found it so pointless to be wasting my time going to school just to fall asleep the

whole class. At Graduation I was pretty nervous but then I thought why should I be I know there

were some teachers that did not like me for no reason but I really was proud of myself one

teacher I hugged and thanked was my advisory and math teacher Ms. Marin was like a second

mom to me always giving advice checking up on me and she was the reason why I passed math

for sure. I am really bad at math and I have always had bad luck with the worst math teachers

they would either never help me or explain things the right way and Ms. Marin was the best

Math teacher I could have ever asked for and ended up passing her math class with an A. During

graduation I was with my guys and we were just laughing, cracking jokes, taking pictures and

waiting until we finally got out with our cap and gowns ready to be called out in the ceremony.

During the normal ceremony it was so long and so boring I just wanted to get my diploma

already. The speeches were so boring and terrible because I'm pretty. Everyone felt the same way

about senior year and how it went. Finally we were receiving our highschool diplomas. I invited

my brother and his wife, my parents and my sisters as well as my grandmothers. I am very happy

they really wanted to be there for my graduation and happy my family was happy for me. I left

immediately as soon as the ceremony was over to a restaurant where my family surprised me by

renting out the restaurant with the live band. My uncles and aunts, cousins and friends were there
and it was such a great surprise. We danced, ate and had such a great time my uncles would tell

me how proud they were of me and the man that I have become. Which made me feel really

good inside. I was most of all happy with myself. I was patient for this moment. I was smart, I

finished strong and I was doing the right things with the support of my family. I loved

representing my country Mexico and Salvador. I know my families back home are very happy

they called and messaged me the day of congratulating me and it feels really good to be loved

and recognized. Graduation really made me feel like okay now that I'm out. It's time to lock in on

life , go to college and get the career I want in order to be happy in life. That's always a goal I

had to get the career I love and get a job where I wake up in the morning happy to go to work.

Working full time opened my eyes before graduation because I was the youngest person working

in the company and it really opened my eyes about college because I was thinking how can

people make a living for themselves from the same amount of money I am making as well.

Everyone would tell me you have the opportunity to attend college and get the job of my dreams

and it really motivates me because coming from a family that sacrificed everything for me and

my family to have these opportunities by immigrating to the US to be able to have the

opportunities we have today. It's really a blessing to be here and to do it for my family and

friends and most importantly myself and I am very thankful for everything that has happened so

far in life and hope to keep moving forward.
